Very dramatic and energetic  "you call time" thing from Andrew Davis here on BBC Music Mag V2 #11, not spaced out or sweet and smooth  - well worth checking out I think, though it certainly doesn't efface the memory of the wonderful Carl St Clare. No Hollywood / Debussy type vibes either.

Takemitsu is a funny composer - sometimes his music is like, required listening for me, like only Takemitsu's music will do!

Thanks for reminding me of that excellent performance. I'm enjoying it again now.

For anyone who doesn't have that disc or can't find it:

Has anyone heard Yutaka Sado play call time with the Berlin Phil?

Coral Island. I can't stop myself thinking of Pli selon Pli - atonal, sensual, vocal and instrumental, I even read that the poems he set are surreal.

I don't know the album in question, but I like some of Sado's recordings. I maybe biased though.

I've ordered a copy, just because hearing the Takemitsu with the BPO sound is irresistible.

Waves. Totally different from Coral Island, if you didn't know you'd not guess they were by the same person. This composer could well be just about the most diverse and varied there is.
