Quote from: Traverso on December 28, 2025, 07:02:37 AMI don't post everything I buy here, but this time, at the end of the year (whatever  ::) ), I wait for  another large box that I hope will be delivered in the coming days. There are also some smaller boxes that I'm looking forward to with joy.

Well, happy new year to you all......... :)

That Erato guitar set is quite good.

I didn't know about the Lagoya set, but now that I do, I just ordered it from Amazon. Delivery is promised for next Sunday.

Happy New Year!

This last purchase is a 6 cd set comprising various vocal and orchestral works, among which Canto General, a grand vocal, choral and instrumental happening on leftist and revolutionary poems by Nobel Prize winner Pablo Neruda. A blast from the past, as I think these days are quite over. The music is exhilarating and this performance is probably quite different from the one I have from another source (Theodorakis allowed all kinds of permutations in the order of movements, type of voice, instrumental choices etc - in the spirit of rejection of established patterns and conventions.💣).

I should give both of those a fresh listen, especially the fantastic recording with the Barefoot Songs and the concerti.

This time I stuffed up, not the seller. The Mendelssohn symphonies are supposed to have a cardboard slipcase and booklet (just like all my Vivaldi!) but it's missing. And the seller's listing did say this. Yes it was a long way down the page but that's mostly due to eBay's formatting, not anything underhand by the seller.

Nevertheless I'll be returning. Not having the sung text for Lobgesang is a minor issue, but more annoying is that there's no track listing on the case.

I'm not sure whether I'll just grab another copy of this, or go for a different version. Ah well.

Meanwhile... The Vivaldi is intact  ;D

Just "bought" these second-hand, but this actually costs me nothing thanks to a gift voucher I've found a use for. If Duolingo ever asks you to do a survey, it's worth it!

Just bought, also second-hand, this time for actual money.

This one lingers in my wishlist. I streamed the first four or five volumes some time back. Very tempting. Either this one or the purple version with Paulus & Elijah.

The purple version doesn't have sung texts. This might or might not influence your decision. When this 10-disc box came out, there was a separate 4-disc box (red) with the oratorios.

I listened to most or all of the volumes a few years back as I went through Mendelssohn's opuses, and they made a strong impression on me.

I had already downloaded both booklets (the 10 and the 14-cd versions) so I am covered anyway. I'll have to stream some more.
