Actually it's impossible to get rid of all the --talkers. More than 80% of the internet community is made up of them.

That's the common law in everything and this board is not immune to it. I've seen this forum evolve in the past 3-4 years and not come to any improvement. So Harry's ans Sidoze's comments are nothing new, just renewed voicing of old complaints. There's nothing new under the sun ;).

Some posters will irritate others because they seem to operate under a strictly empiric communication system (I've listened to this, and I bought that), others because they seem to always react negatively to others' posts, without having much to contribute, even though they may be the most qualified to do so (here the parable of talents definitely applies). Some of the highest intellects here (or who think themselves as such) are total pricks as persons, and although I repect and enjoy reading them when they discuss music, I wouldn't want to have them as neighbours.

I do not agree to a call for more moderation. As a former moderator myself, ruling a bunch of unruly educated adults who behave like spoiled brats or downright bums has been a daily nightmare for over two years. If you want to send your current moderators into depression and the forum to close altogether (as Rob has clearly intimated might be the case one day), then fine. Then everybody will migrate to another forum where the same bickering will start again. Members are leaving, members come back. I've taken such a break myself, and the forum has thrived. Nobody is essential. Everybody is basically expendable.

As Scarlett O'Hara had it, Tomorrow is another day :).

Harry, have not much time so this is just to let you know that I completely agree with your stand. It is ridiculous, this bashing by some here. Live and let live, that is my motto. Let us just ignore those elements around here that do not have the decency or civilization to respect others and their dissenting opinions. For me, not a regular poster, this Forum is very valuable, I have learned a lot. Most discussions are interesting, often funny, and even some playful teasing that is going on can be amusing if it is done in a good spirit. I do hope those members who mean well with this forum - you are one of them Harry - decide to stay. It is they who are the core of the Forum.

A truly saintly man! generous enough not only to applaud his own virtues, but the virtues of those who suck up to him.  :D

Quod erat demonstrandum, if that means anything to you Sforzando.

Funny, I was going to use the same phrase with regard to Harry's last piece of self-congratulation. And yes, yes, I'm the Villain and the Bully; you and Harry are the Heroes and the Saints. It's all black and white. No shades of grey anywhere. No hostility or meanness on your part or Harry's; nothing but hostility and meanness on my part. Just perfect saintly people, versus the "total pricks." QED.

Do I see some crocodile tears there? Come on Sforzando, you are probably a nice guy, I hold no grudge to you personally but let's skip to be childish and let this matter rest. We better discuss the beautiful music that binds us here.

No, what you saw was my perhaps unfortunate proclivity to indulge in sarcasm and wit when confronted with bullshit. But "you are probably a nice guy"! And here I thought I was one of the "total pricks." Fortunately that "probably" leaves room for doubt; I wouldn't want my reputation ruined.  0:)
