It's all about some old gods running around in the woods, a kind of mythologic/geriatric Blair Witch Project.

I got mine today, and I think you'll enjoy the set.
Mine should be in today also :) The price of that set is so low they are practically giving it away. The Boehm/Ring Cycle is probably worth the price of the set alone.

I paid more for the "bargain" box of Böhm's Ring than this set. Of course, I've paid more for single-work sets than I paid for this box. I'm only repeating two recordings (Böhm's Ring and Tristan), which makes me happy.

I'd say that if anyone is thinking about getting a bunch of Wagner, now is the time.

Yeah, I am repeating the same two recordings as you are. Well not exactly since after placing the order for the big box (last MONTH !) I sold Böhm's Ring and Tristan on Ebay which brough in more $$$ than what I paid for the box. I don't know how Universal makes any money on that box. What are we paying for ? About $2 per cd?

I really wanted Levine's Parsifal and Sawallisch's Lohengrin. Too bad Rienzi is not in there. Do they even perform Rienzi at Bayreuth?

Nope. The accepted canon is the ten music dramas in the box.

Yes I did not buy that either, Wagner and Karl, vitriolic I would say, no match there. ;D

Universal has already made their money off these sets. Many, though not all, were out on the Philips Richard Wagner Edition of some years back, and all of them have been around long enough to have paid for themselves (Böhm's Ring probably did so back when the set was on LPs). So, minus material costs, Universal is probably doing nothing except making money on the set.

Karl is the anti-Wagnerite...yes, I'm not buying this either until Karl replies. But I'm expecting a big, fat grin and a confession  ;D
