I really didn't read Saul's posts anyway....so, oh well....  >:D

There have been times where it has been tempting to leave, but rather in those times I just take a hiatus from posting. Sometimes the atmosphere around here becomes negatively charged as it has been of late, but I try to pick my way around it, I'm not one to get in fights.

I do get pretty darn incensed about some member's posts and attitudes, but I keep it to myself. I mean, it's just an online forum anyway! But it does bother me the rash of rudeness that erupts around here from time to time. Too much testosterone?  ;D Why can't people just be nicer, and discuss music rationally like adults?

All the sniping back and forth trying to put each other down, the constant attacking, it's all pretty silly and childish when you step back and look at it. : ( If someone tells me I'm stupid, or wrong, then so be it - they're right. Or at least they can think they are. Because you're just going to waste time, breath and keystrokes to tell them otherwise.

Rules of Engagement: Learn when someone is baiting you, and don't react to it. Don't talk at length about things you don't know about. Realize that some posts do not dignify an answer, and when they do, write coherently. And don't be a prick, even if you think you have the license to be.

These few simple rules would up the environment of this forum significantly. Luckily though, all the good here makes up for the not-so-good, so, I remain.  ;)

But I am glad that we do not have to experience Saul's "art" anymore...

And yet, many times it felt like 50 Sauls...

Or, at the least, 50 new threads started by Saul per week . . . .

Nobody drives away full-grown adults; they leave of their own accord.  Put another way, I do the driving.

I do have to admit that 50 Sauls would be tough to endure; it would be necessary to eliminate at least 45 of them.

It's not wise to speak of eliminating 45 Sauls. It just fuels his paranoia...

Mendelssohn, I suppose.

Probably not. Remember, according to Saul, it is a tragedy that Mendelssohn converted. Although, IIRC, he more blamed his parents for influencing him and depriving him of his birthright to be part of the "chosen people". Mendelssohn, BTW, even though he wrote very nice music, was known to be rather direct and sarcastic as a person who openly made fun of people he saw as dimwitted. If anything I have read about him is true, he wouldn't have suffered Saul for 5 minutes...

I knew it....M stands for Mendelssohn.... ;D

No - I don't remember you either.
Wellcome to the forum, Don.  ;D

You mean the guy from Malaysia who said he was 17 and sounded like he was 40?

Yes. I always had my doubts about that... But if he really is, he is brilliant.

I trust I can muster enough jadedness myself, to not sound like I'm turning 20 this September. ;) 8)

Although I like Monsieur Croche: at least he's got style, whatever his age. Is he gone?

He has stopped posting. His last contribution dates from 28 May.

So had I, but his post was always interesting. BTW I think he will return.

Your posts led me to presume you were a sophomore in college, so it seems that you're right where you're supposed to be!

Speaking of which, where's our buddy, the Mahler-loving physicist Dave?  Haven't seen him around for awhile....

I believe I have his address around here somewhere.  Maybe I should drop him a line.  I have not been able to play the card since he left. ;)

Even though I am neither American nor currently observing full-time higher education (in practice), I am quite glad of that fact. :)

Edit: My point being that I could present myself as older than I am, not that I do! (Hopefully.) As could many people.
