She seems like a fine choice for McCain, and I'm glad to see him thinking out of the box.

     The box......say no more.  0:)

I don't know if this is too clever or maybe just clever enough. Come all ye Hillary supporters...

Huge mistake.  But that is good.

Here is my immediate reaction, earlier today when I found out from a friend: "Ballsy and brilliant." Ballsy that he chose a non-white man, indeed, he chose the wife of a union member and a woman who dared to veto anti-gay legislation from the Alaska legislature, brilliant because Sarah Palin was his only hope for simultaneously energizing both the core conservative base and moderate, well, "hockey moms."

There's another reason it's ballsy though: it might be a spectacular failure. The woman's 44 and two years ago she was mayor of a tiny suburban town. Her experience rivals that of Obama.

Yes, that could be a problem for McCain.  He's not in a good position to now bitch about Obama's lack of experience.  I think that's good.  I've never thought that all the priority placed on "experience" was valid.

What makes the selection a huge mistake?

Huge mistake for Republicans.  Obama-Biden will destroy them.

You already said it's a huge mistake - but why?  You must have one or more reasons.

The experience issue is now thrown out.  The fact this woman views the VP position as superfluous is another.  Biden's experience will make her look like a fool when it comes to foreign policy and Obama's appeal at home and among the lower and middle income groups will make McCain look like the fool he is.

No wonder McCain wants to drill Alaska.

Thanks for your reasons.  How do you know that she considers the VP position superfluous?

McCain should choose someone that could replace him if he goes down. The Palin pick doesn't look like it was designed to do that. It's a ploy, not a serious move.

It will be close. The Biden pick was a huge winner, though, a serious pick. Nobody dislikes Biden, and he's respected everywhere, even with his goofiness.

I don't know. Maybe she will impress, and maybe Biden will open his big fat mouth and blow it. I don't think that will happen, but it could.

I know. What a dumb move. The president needs experience but obviously the veepee does not.

Are you sure that's what he wants to drill? ;)

I personally know a few folks who can't stand Biden; they consider him nothing more than a wind-bag.  My wife thinks he looks mean.

As for me, I like the man, especially his wise-ass personality.

He is a major wind-bag! He's also a pretty serious guy. I don't think he's mean at all, though McCain will get a good going over from him.

Me, too. Biden always seems like he's having fun, a big plus in a campaign.

She's correct, of course. John Adams commented that the Vice Presidency was the dullest job in the world, and Theodore Roosevelt agreed. As a matter of fact, Adams called the VP "His Superfluous Excellency."

There were two brothers. One of them went on
a boat to round the world alone. The other became
vice president of the USA. After that, nobody
ever knew anything more about them.
