I can understand why Lis deleted - as a moderator the situation is different, you are either in the job or not. As for everybody else, yeah, they love the drama of all the "discussion" their very public exits* make. But I can't complain - it's funny.

*Although calling it an exit is a little excessive considering how 90% of them come back 0:)
Peanut butter, flour and sugar do not make cookies. They make FIRE.

Well, the exits involve the law of diminishing returns....if you catch my meaning; in that those who return on a regular basis cause little effect. For some it is as though they have gone on holiday and come back slightly shop soiled. This is especially so if they change identity in such a way as to pretend to be someone else; very tiresome. I am not for example suggesting Don falls into this category and there are in addition the playful ones who like to promote themselves to Godhead, then get fed up with being omnipotent and return to us as mere mortals; all good stuff.

But there are some who go for good and that can be a real loss in a few instances. Of course there are some who might take themselves off on a permanant basis, but like creaking gates, they linger.

Much of life passes here; plus a good deal that does not even manage a passable imitation.

But, Sara, it's the same on stage, isn't it?

And you remember what the chap says:  All the world's a stage . . . .

Very true. I'm not for changing avatars (I'm talking for myself). I did the switch from Calaf to Lilas Pastia because even though I had resigned as a moderator, the 'label' had stuck. Some people treat the mods like tainted meat :P. I enjoy my new life as shady innkeeper where smugglers, toreadors and easy gypsy girls go for a wild time :D

Ah, a shady inn! I could do with one, about now!

Andre, I was not referring to you either, as I should think you knew. I am really referring to some who start a new persona; though we seem generally to pick up on their old ID soon enough. Paul/Michel was saying to me last week that he thinks it is very difficult to be on-line somewhere, then alter identity and not give the game away.

Though, no one seems to have clued into Sean and Gurn being one and the same.....you read it here first.

I just learned of Uffeviking (Lis') departure  :'( :'( :'(

She will be back, but not as a moderator. You see, there is a life beyond the "reported posts". But the moderators don't have that luck. They have to read, answer and ponder every little bit of miserable crap that gets reported.

Except that she often didn't properly read and "ponder" reported posts. Often, she deleted the wrong posts and left the original "offenders" intact. She was really not the sharpest tool in the shed, and a really bad moderator.

Of course I knew!  ;)

My mind picks up stuff  left and right and off I go on a tangent! Nothing to do with deficit attention disorder or paranoïa - at least I hope not.

I don't know about Lis' moderating skills, but I wonder about what insight you have in the matter? All moderators receive a 'reported post' simultaneously and whoever happens to be in the right time zone and not doing the dishes or mowing the lawn responds as they see fit. In my experience, there's no way to tell who deleted any post.

But thats's beside the point, really. Lis is a classy lady and I hope to see her posting again soon.

Well, M, of course, has far more dealings with mods than anyone else, so he should be an expert, shouldn't he? My own opinion is that if Lis had a failing it was that she always saw the best in people, and actually believed that no one is incorrigible. Pity that she was proved wrong so often, we actually need more people like that. :)

More insanity: most Britons (afaik) don't like tomatoes either.  :o
This Briton loves toma(ah)toes :) :) Not sure about toma(ay)toes :-\

The smell and taste of onions make me physically sick :( If I can't see them or smell them or taste them it's ok :)
Cook with them by all means, put them into other things ok....just don't let me see them, smell them or taste them ;D

With her white mouse prudishness out the way I might be more encouraged to post challenging stuff.
As if you ever posted anything that was challenging.

Sean

Well you've just reminded me of something she did object to, so I'll try again on the next thread.

You haven't ever posted anything remotely challenging, but you have contributed a lot of seriously challenged stuff.
