Yes, M forever was banned.  :'(

I resigned as moderator.  :D

And GMG hasn't been interesting, intelligent, educational and amusing since his departure!  >:(

Right on!
I love music. Sadly, I'm an audiophile too.

George is on IM, Bill? I thought he'd decided against using such technologies? ???

Bill meant PM.

I wonder why she is still on GMG then? :o
Maybe she likes it here anyway.

Funny thing with bad boy M. GMG is less interesting for a learner (like me) without him but too hot to handle for the GMG community when he's in. So he gets the boot and is allowed back in after some time. Ad lib to fade I guess.

One would hope that three or four dances to that particular tune would be sufficient for anyone, especially the mods, who get to deal with the fullness of those problems.

When the vector for valuable information is often fairly unpleasant, one must ask how really valuable that information is.

The dispute is about the answer to that question I presume.

We gather ' has left us and deleted his posts in the process. Anyone any idea why?

Why does the forum allow members to delete posts?

I'm not sure there's all that much room for dispute in this case, but I am sure that the topic has been explored fully above by those more interested than me. I'll leave it be.

Why does the forum allow members to delete posts?

Maybe it's because that ability isn't widely known. I figured that only moderators could delete posts, with members able to lock only those posts they started themselves.

Kullervo

You can delete your own posts unless they are the first post in a thread. Only the mods can delete threads AFAIK.

Fair enough. I did not know that.

Rob likes people to have control over their output. If tou have the right to post, you have the right to delete your own items, except when it was the first post in a thread which has attracted further posts. It can of course be extremely irritating when people delete posts and leave holes in threads. If we stopped it; people would simply empty their posts and leave an empty window in place.

Reminds me of professional athletic teams where a very talented player is dumped because he's toxic to the team.

I think M is a valuable contributor, just as long as you Don't Mention the War.

There are quite a bunch of people here who firmly believe in their own opinions, they just don't have the substance to back it up. M does or did.

Valuable contributor. Poor social skills.

I've never met him socially (and neither have you), so who am I to say?

Maybe you're indulging in a typical internet pastime, i.e. judging things and people you don't know enough about.

M was often a bit snappy. Big deal.
