The symphonies are very impressive, the other works less so(if I recall correctly-nothing stuck in my mind). Excellent performances by Handley. And now we have the forthcoming Hickox/Chandos performances with which to compare.

Thanks Colin, the price is very low 24,- euro's for three discs, so that would be a better deal as the pricey Chandos releases.

Was surprised to see amazon.de regularly listing Chambonnieres, they haven't had it for ages and used copies are 50 euros and up. Price is 7 euros and availability 9-11 days for dispatch, let's hope they actually have it.

Nice catch! :)
The double set by Olivier Baumont that I recently got sounds wonderful BTW.

Regarding the Gulda Amadeo cycle that you ordered (good choice!:-): there's a reissue by Decca as well that also includes the piano concertos (with Stein conducting).

Both the Brilliant and Decca incarnations are more or less in the same price range. Just thought I'd mention it.  8)

Let us know how you like Maazel's Mahler. Segerstam's Sibelius is uniformly excellent.

Interesting to hear about the Decca issue, that I didn't know about. Even so, I'm fully satisfied by my piano concerto cycles at the moment, so it shouldn't be a terrible loss. :)

Will report on Maazel's Mahler, about which I am very curious.

Photo removed, this is the music area and knowing Rob's inclinations, I don't think he would welcome these images on his site.

I am going to hear him play the Brahms VC in Orpheum Theatre, Vancouver B.C. tomorrow. Bramwell Tovey is wielding the stick on that work and Symphony No.1 from the same composer after the intermission.

Lucky you, I should say.  Enjoy!!  :)

I see the Harry pop explosion is still in full swing. ;D

I've been making a few strategic orders (coinciding with my having had, post-New-Year, some money to spend) and am ready to make more.

I'll post choice items. :)
