I am going on with my acquisitions of LvB string quartet sets.

To day I received a notification telling me that the Suske quartet set (recommended by snyprrr) and the Talich quartet set (well spoken of by many posters) are waiting for me at the post office.
Reality trumps our fantasy far beyond imagination.

Wow, this new recording of The Nose looks great; I didn't realize it was out!  Also didn't realize that it introduces the Mariinsky's own recording label, which is very good news, too.

Edit: just looked at the new label's website, here, and we have another Shostakovich disc to look forward to in a few weeks, with Symphonies 1 and 15.

We've been kicking this recording about on the Shostakovich thread, Bruce. See the last couple of pages. :)

And thanks for the Mariinsky link!
Veit Bach-a baker who found his greatest pleasure in a little cittern which he took with him even into the mill and played while the grinding was going on. In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

OMG! :o Just when I was looking for some individual issues by Van Nevel that are now OOP or very expensive! :) :)

At "15 for the price of 2" this looks like a "no-brainer". ;D

(Best one-volume introduction to the intensely beautiful early Flemish art, IMO of course  :))

Yes, sir: Erik van Nevel and the Currende Consort. And certainly I like the early flemish art, too.

So Paul van Nevel and his Huelgas ensemble have gone freelance? :)

Perhaps not -- since Sony now owns DHM as well.

Some acquisitions

Harry,

Robert de Visee Pieces de Theorbes
Miguel de Fuenllana
Las Majeres y Cuerdas

Do you mind if I ask where you ordered these from (all on Glossa I think). My impression was that these were all OOP so if they are now re-released I'll purchase these in a heartbeat. I think the de Visee recording has this Chaconne, one of the true masterpieces of Baroque plucked string instrumental music (shame Rold Lislevand never actually put it to disc himself)
