I've decided, when I go to concerts where there is a store inside, I must not enter.  I get too tempted.......

anyways.....here's what I got from Tanglewood:

my first experiences with Carter, Harris, Thompson, and Berio, have one CD of Diamond, and still trying to get into Bartok.

The new erato

Some i***t here just reminded me that this has been sitting in my wish list for far too young!  ;D

You know who you are!

Berlin Classics offer on mdt until 28th september.

And Reger is well worth it, not that everything he did was stellar, but mostly very worthwhile music.

Well done for the Schili! You will enjoy this cd. Some of the finest oboe playing you will ever get. But if you are ready for, in my opinion, the best performances of the Albinoni and Marcello concertos, look no further than Paolo Grazzi and Alfredo Bernardini. Enjoy!

Yeah, I have had my eyes on this Albinoni BC SACD for a while.  I think this may be the first recording by the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra that was not conducted by its longtime conductor Karl Munchinger I own ...

Any MTraks users?   I had recently signed up to MTraks.  I had saved all of Schnittke's Symphonies as they would essentially equal my downloads remaining.  Well, when I went to my "Saved for later" I selected the "Checkout" option -- apparently this doesn't automatically look for my download credits.  Long story short -- I just spent @ $90 today ($70 more than I attended) for all of Schnittke's Symphonies...and I still have 75 downloads remaining.

Hope it's worth it....live and learn.    :D

I love that Randall Thompson symphony - oughta be a concert roof-raiser...

Try his chamber music (quartet) and his organ works.

I know, I've been recommending the complete set om Da Camera Magna both here and on other forums. 23 mostly very good CD's at a good price, check jpc.de.

Are you referring to the Furtwangler?

Yes, sorry I didn't make that clear. Thanks.

Well, about every 3-4 months, I decide to checkout 'what' is available on Hyperion at BRO - nearly 500 offerings from this superb label at ridiculous prices; picked out a half dozen selections shown below (a number of doubles) - a total of 9 CDs for about $58 - not BAD!  ;D

Brahms, Johannes - Piano & Horn Trios w/ Lester & Florestan Trio and others.

Gottschalk, Louis Moreau - Piano Works, Vol. 7 w/ Philip Martin.

Lambert, Constant - Piano Concerto et al w/ Lloyd-Jones and English Northern Philharmonia

Lassus, Orlando - Penitential Psalms w/ Jonathan Brown et al.

Peerson, Martin - Latin Motets w/ Jeffrey Skidmore.

Tippett, Michael - Piano Concerto et al w/ Steven Osborne et al.

Dave,    I don't think BRO carries any recent releases by Hyperion.  Is that correct?  I have yet to unload my shopping cart at BRO from two months ago and some of the items are no longer available.

I was over at BRO today too, Dave, you must have been behind me in line.

I'm upset that you didn't say hello.

Sorry, George - I must have been distracted by the sales girl (thinking of the 'cleavage' thread -  ;D), and there was such a crowd - let's plan a meeting there next time!   ;) :D   Dave

Hi Stuart - well, at the prices offered by BRO, I'm assuming that their purchases are likely 'overstocked' items or those that are OOP (but likely not selling), hence the great deals that this company can obtain; now for those not familar w/ BRO, these all all 'new' CDs.  But, of course, the entire Hyperion catalog (or that of any other label they sell) will not be represented and the new releases will likely not be available.  So, this website is certainly a 'trade off' of not having 'what' you may want vs. just extraordinary deals.  And obviously, the number of items they obtain will often be limited, so periodic checking and quick buying is a must w/ BRO.

Thanks Dave.  This has been my impression.  It looks like BRO is a great place to help fill in the gaps in a collection.  For latest release by a specific label, one really needs to look elsewhere.

Arrived in the post today  :)

Hi Chris - BRO is located in New England, USA - prices are GREAT but selection can be 'hit & miss' because of how they acquire the CDs - the S&H in the States is pretty cheap - might be an issue out of the country; just not sure what rates they charge (of course, a VOLUME purchase would likely be acceptable).  Dave
