You call someone who created a device aimed at killing people, genius!?

The emotional response to its utility should be considered independently of the aesthetics of its design. :)

In other words, stop being such a "bleeding heart"! :D lol

There is such a thing as "evil genius"--still could be genius, though.   ;D

I do wonder though, what my ochre-painted walls will look like with my brains pasted on them.

Beware, I've got a GREEN CLARINET!  Sadly, this history of countries and societies is that they are ruled by those with the best weapons. . . and  happily, now that's me!

It is true that the devices John Browning made are best used when aimed at people who are killing (or about to).  :)

Do you intend to shoot it? Or is it a collectible for you? I have heard of these for a long time, but never shot one. My gun as a youth was its contemporary, a Model 1917 Lee-Enfield .303BR. A very nice gun to shoot, and accurate as all hell too!

I have been shooting it.  Its very comparable to a Lee-Enfield, but with the cruder soviet craftsmanship.  The accuracy in general is good - the Soviets used them for sniper rifles as well as general issue - but the one I have has the front sight machined too low, so it shoots high if you try to aim it normally.  Going to get a reproduction scope put on it sometime.

Cool. You're right about the Enfield, it had as smooth an action as I've ever used, even on high-priced modern guns. I'm wondering if your front sight is machined low because it already had a scope on it at one time. :)

I keep thinking about getting a gun for the coming apocalypse but never get around to it. However I do own kitchen knives and a roll of nickels.

Put the nickles in a tube sock. Use it as a cosh. A couple of good whacks can save your life. Not sure you need the knives, but if you feel you do, don't play around, get it done right. :)
