I've been eyeing that one myself...price is right...and recommendations here abound...

I recommend it too: I've had the LP box since the late 70s. Fabulous performances. You won't be disappointed.

he was as f*cked-up as you are."

Hmm, but the cover reads '24 Preludes & Fugues' . . . .

Let's hope Scarpia doesn't see this: he demands truth in advertising and goes ballistic otherwise  ;D

I wasn't fooled. It's well known Richter didn't record, or perhaps even play, the entire set. By the way, the Chopin Etudes are not complete either.

It's also reasonably well known that the op 87 doesn't fit on a single disc!

I know this doesn't apply to Richter recordings.  Richter fanatics will pay top dollar for a recording of Richter singing in the shower.   8)

False.

It's on the way, shipping weight 10 pounds.  I have the tracking number.  Too superstitious to say what it is.  That bit about not counting your chickens before they're delivered.
;D

karlhenning

A ten-pounder, eh?

Well, you've got a tracking number; that's got to be a good sign.

On the way...

Not to torment you, my friend . . . but the Schoenberg Piano Concerto is slated for the spring here at Symphony Hall.

Ooh, now that might necessitate a quick trip to Boston...he doesn't seem to play that piece very often.

Actually, this was last week when my home phone and Internet were out of service.  Found in the bins at the closing of my local Borders. Apparently they fed in some stuff that was sitting in the warehouse.  So I got these

Musically varies from okay to very good.  However, Nimbus packed 6 CDs into a box meant to hold 4, and they keep falling out every time I open it; at least 1 CD was badly scratched and will have to be duplicated.

All Polish including liner notes in Polish and English from a Polish outfit named Dux.  My first exposure to either work, and I found them reasonably impressive.
