Bought this highly acclaimed set of Schubert symphonies:

You should enjoy this set.  I bought the set some 2 years ago and these are some of the best Schubert Symphonies I have ever heard IMO ...

Thanks Coopmv, I have actually enjoyed many of Harnoncourt's recordings (i. e. Dvorak, Smetana, Beethoven, Brahms). I think what I'll do next is explore some of his Haydn recordings. I'm beginning to grow an appreciation for Haydn's music. I own a good bit of Haydn, but I seldom listened to it (for whatever reason), so I finally sat down and listened to his Violin Concerto No. 1 and really enjoyed the music. I think I'm going to breakout the Dorati Decca box of symphonies. Do you own a good bit of Haydn?

That is great news, George.  I hope to spin it later tonight and hit the Richter thread.

Really a combination of multiple orders from MDT & Amazon Marketplace - mostly recommendations from the Jan-Feb issues of Fanfare & ARG plus probably some from GMGers!  A lot of interesting looking music on the way!   ;D

Bartok, Bela - Violin Concertos w/ Steinbacher + Janowski

Clementi, M. - Sonatas, V.6 w/ Howard Shelley - another addition!

Graupner, Christoph - Orch Works V.2 w/ Rampe et al

Hamelin, MA - Etudes w/ Hamelin - had to give this one a try?

Handel, GF - C. Grossi Op.6 w/ Beznosuiuk & Avison Ensemble

Hubay, Jeno - Viola Works w/ Barsony & Erkel Cham Orch

Telemann, GF - Tafelmusik w/ Goltz et al

Villa Lobos, H. - Piano Trios w/ Damocles Trio

Vitali, Giovanni - String Sonatas w/ Semper Consort

Westhoff, Johann - Violin Sonatas w/ Plantier et al

But it's not a general sale, so you cannot expect more than a few items reduced from such a big basket.

Well, I don't read French, but the site announces "20 à 80% de remise sur tout le catalogue"... That's the reason why I said they are changing the rules or, at least, are not being clear.

More Ligeti on the way...

Well I read that as "the sales catalogue" from the context. How it is to be understood is anybodys guess, but I see your point that it could have been clearer.

Well I managed to be on the Abeille site long enough, to find some amazing composers and bargains. The trick is not to go there on the first day of sale, and then all will be fine. Most of my bargains are from Supraphon, and some miscellaneous labels. This year was disappointing in terms of real bargains. Chandos for instance, last year a big runner, had nothing to please me at all. Phoenix was a empty shell also, Hyperion did not even play in the bargain, and others too were devoid of good bargains. Well all the better for my wallet. Here they are ;D ;D

Well, Harry, it doesn't look like you have much to complain at all.

Or, as a saying goes in Beijing, "if you think you should complain at THAT, then you are asking to be slapped silly!"
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.
