That could be read two ways. ;)

Well, of course, I don't have sympathy for Conor, as no sympathy is required.  He made an excellent choice in the Melos Quartet recordings of Schubert string quartets, IMHO.   :)

More Janacek on the way...

I'm a fanatic for Chausson, and took a chance on this one:

[asin]B0009A3PNA[/asin]

Never heard the piece, but it is supposed to be Wagner inspired and I couldn't resist because I generally love Telarc sound, and the deluxe (I believe) 3 disc edition is only $9.99.

I've been debating and debating when to get this and just finally took the splurge...I'm very excited...

Judging by the expression on Levine's face, he agrees.   :)

Indeed, what is going on in the design departments, I often ask myself.

A most Mahlerian pout, I thought . . . .

Because you immediately recognize a good deal, Gurn.  ;D

I paid EUR 98, shipping and hadling included. Now I love to see, for instance, the price at Presto Classical (or Amazon USA):

Picked up at the post office today: Havergal Brian Orchestral Music Volume One

Sarge
the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

Ordered a couple of discs online; Henze's 7th and 8th symphonies under Janowski, and the much-discussed (at least here) new Dutton recording of Havergal Brian's 10th symphony and other works.

In person, I snatched up cheap second-hand copies of the one Boulez DG Ravel recording I didn't have, and the 1960s Britten/Pears recordings of Serenade, Les Illuminations and Nocturne.
"I don't at all mind actively disliking a piece of contemporary music, but in order to feel happy about it I must consciously understand why I dislike it. Otherwise it remains in my mind as unfinished business."

Got this for less that $2, before listening to the one Hummel recording I already have.

[asin]B000A7XJP6[/asin]

Big mistake, Hummel is the most boring composer who ever lived, I'm afraid.

But this one will be awesome, I am sure.

[asin]B000F6ZI88[/asin]

although considerably more than $2.

Finally, this:

I could swear I had it already, but no.

Now Dittersdorf certainly has a chance! :D
