Do you mean that Kruidvat is no more? What a pitty!

Yes they are still there my friend, but a Japanese investor bought the shops, and made a few not so nice changes, and one of them was to slow down the classical release tempo.

Hmmm... so the Asian danger is real, after all. :)

Opus 74, No.2 in F major.

All is well.

Ahmed Adnan Saygun.

Complete SQ.

No. 1 opus 27.

Quatuor Danel.

After hearing a Symphony by this composer I felt a urgent need to collect his works.
I think them fascinating, to a extreme point. Diving into this SQ the second movement, "Adagio" you will hear why.
Tightly knotted up there is so much to feel and discover, that while listening to it, it colors your world in a instant, and closing your eyes will let you see pictures of undreamed immensity. Ancient influences from the Orient, mixed with the modernity of the 20th century.
Added yet again to my list a top-dog!
The sound is really very good, and this ensemble knows how to handle the delicacy of the score.

Bruckner Symphony No. 4 from this set (in previous incarnation, though):

Concertgebouw/Haitink.

And after that I was back on my Karol Szymanowski spree:
Błogosławiona niech będzie ta chwila (hymn) Ewa Podleś, Ewa Pobłocka
2 Mazurkas op. 62 (Jerzy Godziszewski)
String Quartet No. 2 (Silesian Quartet)

And right now:
Symphony No. 2 (WOSPR/Grzegorz Fitelberg)

Harry

#788
Joseph Haydn.

String Quartets, Volume IV.

Opus 71, No. 1/2/3.

Buchberger Quartet.

As earlier in this thread reviewed, I renew my claim for excellence, from this ensemble.
Its really outstanding.

HAYDN: String Quartets Op. 20, Nos. 4 - 6, 'Sun Quartets'
Kodaly Quartet

(Harry's beneficial influence, I guess :) )

Delightful performances, with an Adagio (in op. 20 No.5) to die for.

Nice contrast, have the Kodaly's too, and I decided that both versions can live nicely together. :)

BTW, I assume you have both Adam Fischer's and Antal Dorati's complete symphonies sets. :)

Which one do you prefer? Who's done the best Hen, for instance?

Kuijken! Sorry, couldn't resist.

More Michelangeli. Debussy Preludes book 1.
I love music. Sadly, I'm an audiophile too.

I have both versions, so that means I need them both.
In the case of the Hen I would say its a even split between them.
The first movement Fischer, the second Dorati, the third and fourth movement Fischer! ;D

You might try the very inexpensive set from Fischer, and be ready for a surprise.
But I admit Kuijken is also a favourite with me.

Thanks. Now I'm even more confused than before. I can afford only one set and I guess I'll have to toss the coin. :)

You did not state in that clearly my friend, but if I was forced to chose, it would definitively be Fischer. :)
