Jeffery, I hope you enjoy those Harnoncourt Dvorak recordings as much as I have. The recording with the 9th on it is also a must-own.

There's always more to buy.
And checking on Arkiv's website, I discovered that one of my two back orders from last month was mailed today:
Sorry, Amazon has no bigger image.
This was on a lead provided by Sadko.

Yes, you still have three more recordings on Teldec to buy of Harnoncourt's Dvorak before you complete his survey. :)

Two big thumbs up, Erato!  8)
Yes indeed, I've already listened once.

Is that it, Erato?
Of course not. Though I tried to show some restraint in the weeks before vacation, there's more. But I  need to sort the mess and really think about what I received and posted on before.

This great disc is new

as well as this which is more middle of the road (but I make it an issue to keep up with releases of Norwegian composers):

Ah, yes, I've been praising that Martinu disc since I joined this forum.

And this:

though it seems, from reviews in IRR, that I will need the new Hyperion symphonies disc, as well.....

I've had a great admiration for Florio's great band since being lucky enough to catch them live in a stunning programme some years ago.

Interesting. I have the disc on Sterling (with much overlap in the pieces). Will be interested to hear what you think of both the music and the performances.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

I would be most interested in your views about Olsen, he has been on my radar, for some time.

The Caresana is a beautiful disc, that's also on my short list.

I think you should read the customer review here, it seems to cover my initial impressions pretty well.

He wrote some pretty entertaining light music as well.

Landed today (finally) from overseas:

This is a nice looking CD and it's got some great colored photographs in the booklet. I can't wait to dig into this performance of one of my favorite symphonies: the Pettersson 7th.

Should be a good one. It was Commisiona's recording of the 8th on LP that got me into Pettersson in the first place!
Do what I must do, and let what must happen happen.

Comissiona was a champion of Pettersson's music, so I can imagine the level of intensity this performance is going to have.

There's still some few things to clean up from what arrived while I was vacationing, but just to ensure the avalanche don't run dry I ordered these two potentially beautiful sets from Hyperion's Please Buy me offering:

Over my last period of inactivity here, I got: (some more recently than others)

[asin]B004H8J1VK[/asin] - I don't know why this is $70+ on Amazon, it's not OOP

There are few pianists whose recordings eagerly await but Sudbin is one of them. Somehow I missed this when it came out and would be interested in what you think of it. How would the 4th stack up against my two favourites - Gilels/Ludwig and Moravec/Turnovsky.

...and yes, $70 does seem excessive so I'm am sure I can get it a lot cheaper elsewhere.
Cheers

$70 is totally nuts.  It's BIS and in print.  Anyone who tries to sell it for $70 should be shot, and I'd love to be the shooter. 8)

Landed today:

There's actually some music in here which I've never heard before performed by anyone--the Arpeggione Sonata, most importantly.  Several of the CDs are actually much shorter than usual, and some of them include the non-Argerich material that was included on the original issue (Dances of Galanta and the various pieces that accompany Carnival of the Animals).

So now I have three of the four DG Argerich boxes, and all three of the EMI Argerich boxes.
