Jonathan Biss is starting his LvB cycle.  I think I'll buy the recordings.
I like the EMI disc he did (like, not love). But will be interested to see how it goes.
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

I thought the disc was extraordinary, but when I saw him in concert, I had more reservations.  The repertoire was different, but still.  As with you, I am interested to see how it goes.

I certainly wouldn't kick her out of bed. :D Before she and I do the deed, maybe she could play me some Piazzolla? Wouldn't that be something? Nothing is better to get someone in the mood than playing some hot, sweaty tango music! 8)

So you want her to push your buttons and pull your bellows?

Yes! That would be lovely! :D

:o I almost just had a heart attack, my favorite instrument playing my favorite keyboard music.  :o
Hasn't been released here in the US, well the disc hasn't but the MP3 has, so I'm only listening to samples.

Gents, I missed that entirely on Greg's initial post . . . Rameau sur l'accordion, eh?

Très intéressant!

Thank you, Karl, for bringing back my initial posting's intentions...Rameau on Accordian!!
I couldn't wait and purchased the disc through iTunes, and it is superb. The combination of French baroque and the Accordian can easily place you in a street side cafe in Paris. I sometimes forgot I was listening to music written several centuries ago, it sounds timeless.

It could win the first Moellerphone award for 2012.

Reiner's Haydn -- especially for 88

That looks interesting. BTW, can you recommend any other recording of 88?

Try Bruno Weil/Tafelmusik. Brueggen too.

I've been searching for ages for Van Beinum's recording, which may or may not exist. I will give a bottle of champagne to anyone who uploads it for me.

I notice there's a preannouncement of a 6 CD set of Rosalynn Tureck's Bach recordings on DG on amazon.it (22 Euro's). Worth getting?

Lethevich

I assume those will be the 2 disc Goldbergs and the WTC - I can't recall other DG recordings. Both come highly recommended. I find the Goldbergs to be a bit slow, but beautifully played.

If you want to hear Tureck at her best then look elsewhere.

Pollini playing Chopin.  The Testament release is a must.  The DG is a must if it is a new recording.

Wanting a new recording of both Mahler 7 and Mahler 9 and am trying to choose between these two:
Either
[asin]B000B66OQM[/asin] or [asin]B0029FGG16[/asin]

and

[asin]B003L1N4P8[/asin] or [asin]B0007YMUFC[/asin]

Hoping to make the purchase tonight, along with the Sinopoli cycle and a few other Ravel, Honneger, Sibelius, Casella and Respighi cds. :)

I have a Tilson Thomas Seventh, but I believe it's with the LSO. Of course, the SFSO is a fine orchestra.

Yes, I have heard about that LSO recording... which I am sure would be excellent as well. I am particularly interested in the SFSO recording though after hearing an absolutely amazing performance of the SFSO under Tilson Thomas doing Mahler 7 on youtube. :)
