Cool, Sarge. Gosh, between your esteemed self and Greg . . . .

I have 0 through 8 now. Just need 9 to complete the cycle.

Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

It's turning out to be a great journey, got to #6 last night....the only Schnittke I knew before was a piece from Kronos Quartet's album Early Music.

When I took the plunge into the Schnittke symphonies, I cherry-picked . . . but I can see that I did wrong to skip № 2.

#2 is well worth a listen or a dozen....finally pulled the trigger on these Schnittke chamber discs...

I can certainly pound the table for both of these!

Great to hear!

While tidying up my Amazon wishlist to delete all the stuff I've been getting at MDT, Presto and Arkiv, I noticed this was priced for $13.91 for a new copy on Amazon MP.  So I just pulled the trigger.

I actually have half of it: the recordings of L'Estro and Il Cimento were among the very first CDs I ever got (in their L'oiseau Lyre incarnations), but I never got the rest, and some of the discs were damaged by dried on styrofoam, so this will serve nicely on all counts.

A very nice set, Jeffrey. You'll enjoy it for sure. Vivaldi is one of my favorites.

Which is why I didn't purchase it myself. When that box set came out, I was kicking myself because I thought "Oh now you bring out the big box?!?!?" ::) :)

Bought this for $2.98 and is pretty near essential for me since I love Boulanger's music:

Ordered from Presto.  The Vivaldi was prompted by the realization that while I have loads of concertos and vocal/sacred music, I actually don't have much of his "chamber" music.  I have no recordings of Op. 1 or Op. 2 or the Manchester Sonatas, so this will help fix that.
