Cziffra plays Chopin/Liszt (EMI, 10cd)
These recordings (afaik) are also available in two red/white separate slimline boxes from EMI France.  I only got this chunkier jewelcase/slipcase version because I found it very cheap.  I understand Cziffra's Liszt and Chopin is not to all tastes, but the samples I've heard have seemed distinctive.  There is also that recent 3-sacd reissue of some of this Liszt stuff; I don't have that.

Saorgin vs. Bach's Orgelbuchlein
Glad to have found a new copy that did not cost an arm/leg.

Sergeant Rock

Arrived this morning: two Symphonie fantastiques, Rattle and Davis (Concertegebouw). I've long owned the latter on LP but the blind comparison convinced me I should own the CD too. Also delivered today, the Harnoncourt/Buchbinder Mozart Piano Concertos.

That's a well conceived compilation, NorthStar. A little bit of everything is thrown in there. Enjoy!

György Kurtág: WORKS (Hungaroton)

Alternative ASIN/page: B000009INW

The best I could manage was a not-terribly-expensive used "like new" copy, but I didn't want to run the risk of simply not getting this on disk.  Earlier works.

I am not very familiar with Prégardien's singing, but I liked his contribution to the Hans Zender "re-composition" of WINTERREISE; I'm also interested in his chamber version of the same Schubert cycle, arranged/expanded (?) by a gent by the ominous name of Forget, on Atma.  I don't know much about that one.

I am very familiar with this combination in Schubert. If you aren't totally delighted, then your taste is not congruent with mine. :)  (Which may be a good thing, who can say? ;) ).

Just the one?!?! :)

I can only relate to what I already have in my classical music collection.  Indeed, I am very narrowly focused over the past decade.  All my Beatles, Rolling Stones and Elton John CD's are collecting dust but I will not get rid of them ...

I think Neal was referring to pointing just one thumb up, not to the fact that you only gave the thumb-up to one of the recordings :)

I own none of the recordings Octave bought, but that Winterreise and Janacek VC recording are the most interesting ones for me - they're both among the items I shall buy sooner or later.
