I'm going to go out for Halloween weekend and try and get some drunk girl action.  must. get. drunk. girl. action. I will say whatsoever needs to be said, I'll throw 'em around if I have to.

Look at the bright side, you don't need much of anything for your Neanderthal costume!

I'm sure that will be a comfort in your old age. ::)

Don't make me come back and slap you around though though, Snips. I hate when that happens. Use your self-restraint, please. :)

No need to. Her arguments come from MRAs who communicated with her through her blog. She listened to them and summarized their arguments. Her and her husband (right-wing pundit cum law professor Glenn Reynolds) seem quite interested in the subject of Men's Rights.

Thank goodness we in Europe are more grown up about these issues.

You mean the men in Europe don't get raped in divorce court?

Remember actor Dave Foley? He shares his divorce horror story here.

I see. Never marry a Canadian woman.

Besides being ridiculously evil (I'd rather be chopped into pieces than go through that), that is definitely... as you say, unfair. Especially what he says at 19:08 onward. I believe it is possible to get one's child support lowered in the US, but Canada certainly has some major issues they need to deal with if you can't even do that.

Not in general. As in most places in the world, women tend to come off worst in most things, so maybe the judges do lean towards them a bit.

At the end of this piece the author disparages Men's Rights Activistism as "intellectually weak"...while making the sort of case these activists have been making for years:

This guy may have kickstarted the Men's Rights Movement in 2000 by publishing a book called The Myth of Male Power. I suspect that many complaints that come from these activists can be sourced to that book, especially the one about societies treating men as more disposable.

He was a big time feminist in the 70s and elected to the board of the New York chapter of NOW several times:

Regarding the first article in the opening post, some context.

A few years ago there was an uptick in feminists blogs in complaints about "street harassment."

A young African-American feminist/photographer embarked on a project to photograph the men who cat-called her on the street. Her photographs humanize these men, who are entirely all working class and brown:

http://hellobeautiful.com/2013/10/18/city-of-brotherly-love-catcalling-men-hannah-price/

Her work was taken by feminists as "photographing my harassers." The men she captured in the photos were demonized as damn near rapists.

The article I link to argues that the complaints about "street harassment" stem more from the so called harassers' lowly socioeconomic status, since socioeconomic status matters to women in mate selection.

It is about time that someone fights for men's rights, at least in the United States.  I want the right to vote, to own property, to speak freely.  These things have been denied to men - especially white men like me - for far too long.  Thank you for bringing up this important, serious, and useful topic.

Looks I missed out on some fun.  I think Todd summarized the thread pretty well.

The way to achieve male equality is to provide female equality. That way we all get the same rights and privileges but still not everyone will be happy.
