I got my first car in 2004, a used Ford. The previous owner had left behind a cassette of Bob Dylan's Bringing it All Back Home, and I found myself listening to the cassette over and over again when I grew of tired of radio. Listening to this album again on Spotify is making me feel nostalgic. I liked all the songs, especially It's alrigh ma, Mr. Tambourine Man, and Bob Dylan's 115th Dream.

One of my favorite Dylan albums!

I discovered the song through it's memorable use in the final scene of the second season of The West Wing. The combination of the drama with an unfamiliar great song really struck me as powerful.

Maybe it doesn't work as well without context but here it is anyway:

The Dire Straits song that does it for me is Your Latest Trick. That sax....

Almost all of my music listening lately has been confined to this album:

That was a really good album, better than the new Ulcerate imo (the latter got too samey for me).

My favorite Metal album this year was Suffocation's Pinnacle of Bedlam, loved both the music and the Book of the Dead inspired lyrics.

I listened to bits and pieces of Ulcerate and was surprised how similar they sounded, when previously I had heard nothing like Colored Sands before.

Can't remember if I've heard that Suffocation album or not, but I know of it...

Holdsworth - Countdown (Coltrane)

http://www.youtube.com/v/BYzipotLMZQ

Uploaded on Dec 12, 2011
Written by John Coltrane
Interpretation by Allan Holdsworth
Album: None Too Soon (1996)

Allan Holdsworth - guitar
Gordon Beck - digital piano
Gary Willis - bass
Kirk Covington - drums

That's one of my favorite Holdsworth albums, his version of Countdown is incredible. How about that cover of How Deep the Ocean? Amazing guitarist and fusion composer, both he and Frank Gambale had a huge influence on me in the past year (they are also perfect gentlemen I might add).

Okay, now I have to break out some Return to Forever, this time the live Mothership cd/dvd with Gambale.

Digging some Joe Loco to end the evening....taking the cha-cha-cha to an all high level.  Due to lack of vision, this still only remains on vinyl....I believe.

A jazzy pop disc from 1959.  One of my better finds from a record show earlier this year and my idea of modernism. ;)

Been wanting to hear this for awhile, but had some other new stuff to get to.

Merry Christmas, all!

I had my first listen to this a couple of days  ago. Excellent album, though I still prefer their earlier efforts.
