Really enjoying this recent purchase.  My only disappointment is the lack of first movement exposition repeats.

To my pleasant surprise there is no overlap with the chalumeau concerto collection  that I already have (nice disc as well, BTW):

Some of the DGG Archive releases on LP, looks academic but I have some variety.
16th Century Spanish part-songs by MORALES, ENCINA, GUERRERO, etc,
Quartet Polifonic de Barcelona      Miguel Querol, cond.
Hans SACHS 5 Lieder
PAUMANN: 14 Lieder and Instrumental Pieces
Nuremburg Gambencollegium        /Josef Ulsamer
PERGOLESI:  Flute Concerto in G, HASSE Flute Concerto in A
LEO: Concerto for 4 Violins obbligato, ...in D
Burghard Schaeffler, flute      North German Chamber Orch.,  Mathieu Lange, cond.
LEO: Cello Concerto in A
Wolfgang Boettcher, cello    Berlin Chamber Music Group
Those severe looking, text-only (and in German!) covers certainly kept these from becoming mainstream.

Early Bruckner is getting a good deal of love these days!  A few weeks ago I was able to hear the Bruckner Symphony 0 in a live performance.  And now we learn that a Giulini CD of the Second Symphony is coming out:

I've now moved beyond you guys  ;) Listening to Webern: Slow Movement for String Quartet (1905); 5 Movements for String Quartet (1909); 6 Bagatelles for String Quartet op.9; and the String Quartet op.28. All played by the Emerson.

Still making my way through this set, Sarge.  I'm saving the chamber music for last!  :)

I think you may like the early stuff. It's one reason I prefer this DG box over the Sony: all those gems without opus numbers.

Yes, I do like some of the early stuff I've heard so far.  Im Sommerwind is just such a gorgeous piece!

This is tremendous, really: bright, fresh, and clear and am looking forward to Roma, which I've never heard.  Chapeau!

Funny thing about Bizet, despite the evidence of Carmen, easily one of the ten greatest operas ever written, there are naysayers out there - always makes me wonder...what aren't they hearing in this youthful, creative, energetic, melody-spinning master who, like Mozart and Schubert, died way too young?
