Unfortunately I don't have the Fischer "Cat" but if you listen to this youtube video the second subject starts at 3.20. The association, to me, is even stronger at 3:29 and the few seconds thereafter. I have to tell you that most here think I'm nuts. I'm of the opinion, though, that only those with the most astute ears and the keenest imagination hear the cat  8)

Thanks! Even though I couldn't find it, I definitely see what you mean now that you pointed it out. I will officially call this "The Cat" from now on.

#79 is the "Kitty with Lanced Eye-Sac" symphony, for the start of the finale.

Beethoven's Op. 133 -- A fugue so bad that even Beethoven himself called it "Grosse".

Excellent...another convert  8)  You know, Jens (jlaurson) changed the Wiki article on the symphony to reflect the growing acceptance of this new nickname  ;D  Unfortunately, the Wiki powers-that-be deleted his edit shortly thereafter  :(

I hope one day we'll have an album cover that looks like this:

Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."

You know, if the cover wasn't so formal/special looking, I would seriously consider putting this as the album art for iTunes.

I liked the name, even though I didn't actually hear it until now. Thanks to Sarge for clarifying!

. . . could you recommend any other recordings with Ensemble Project Ars Nova?

I suspect that they are all very good/great and worth adding to your collection.

Every one that I have, I enjoy listening to.  Here are my two favorite:

*Note: New Albion label, so purchasing new from amazon means a CDR.  I've been collecting the P.A.N.~New Albion recordings "used," via the marketplace.

Quoi?  Boulez encore une fois?!
Jawohl, aber er ist nur Dirigent, nicht Komponist. Doch, er is nie Komponist.

Was that passable?
