Lortie is the Pile.  I think I will push him to the on deck position.

HJ Lim.

Just kidding.

That would be too easy, I suggest listening to Anne Øland's Pathetique  - in her case, it should be spelled 'pathetic' - as a suitable punishment.

I actually kind of like HJ Lim's Beethoven. Not enough to buy it; she tends to put emphasis in places I find incredibly weird and/or distracting and rushes through most of the slow-to-moderate movements, but it's also nowhere near as bad as I was led to expect.

After some consideration I choose to agree with Gurn and vote for Paul Badura-Skoda (Astrée)

Not a single vote for Backhaus...there's something wrong with us.

:)  Hey Sarge, we finally have a mutual favorite recording - Barenboim's EMI set.  There must be a solar eclipse or Halley's Comet has come around the bend again.  :D

My considerations were about Kempff, Backhaus, Arrau, Barenboim and Badura-Skoda. Unfortunately we have only one vote.

I'm sure it wasn't the baseball term that threw you... :D

Gurn  and Dave understand me, even if no one else does.

Yes,  I have the Lortie set but have yet to listen to it, so based on what Ken said about it,  I will put at the top of The Pile Of Music To Be Listened To, instead of under its previous position,  beneath Serkin and the Amadeus Quartet.

My vote settled on FF Guy, and there it remains, at least until I've heard Lortie. 8)

Ahhh. I googled "the Pile" and it came up as British slang for "da bomb" and other siperlatives. I wondered why you would you use Brit slang, but never tweaked to what you meant.

Never knew that.

That means that Guy is The Pile, and Lortie is in the pile.
