Me too, Adams, City Noir.

I can't say I am liking it much. Jazz club sounds; traffic sounds. Might just take more than one listening, I dunno.
Was this the piece premiered at Dudamel's inaugural LA concert?  If so, I thought it distinctly underwhelming.

It is its own film  ;) .  In the words of the composer:  "City Noir is a symphony that may also be experienced as the soundtrack to an imagined noir film."

Thanks for the enlightenment.

for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

What wood is that, Harry?

Mahogany Karl. A  previous one I got from Thailand is from Acacia wood.

Aha! So the composer admits my complaints are well taken!

The beginning is very good. I think I'm going to like this CD as much as others who praised it.
