Just bought:

I didn't own The Maiden in the Tower, so this seemed like a safe bet. I have liked Paavo's other Sibelius recordings on Virgin.

André

André

I have 2 of these discs (or is it 3?). And some more Kallstenius from Musica Sveciae. All of them are great finds. Please post your impressions !

I sure will, Andre. I can already speak about Kallstenius which I have heard his work Dalarapsodi on YouTube the other day. This was very nice, atmospheric work. Of course, this was just my first-listen to the work and the first-listens always tend to be the most superficial ones. Really can't wait to hear more music from him.

Here is Kallstenius' Dalarapsodi for those interested:

Arrived today (from Germany) to my great delight!  It looks good (similar in quality and design as the other recent Decca boxes) and the disks are pretty much filled to the rim with extras. I will take the first disk for a spin (Stravinsky)!

You have in there a rare Holmboe string quartet recording... about 30 discs in or something! I stumbled across it in my discography detective work.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

Just bought (Birthday Splurge, Part IV) -

The main reason I bought this, aside from the fact that I love Bernstein's Mahler, is that this was a ridiculously good price on Amazon UK ($61 incl. shipping).

More from good old Jean Martinon for me:

This was certainly a great deal and I'm not much for big conductor boxes as I prefer the composer-oriented sets instead.

:) No, I would wait if I were you, especially since you already have Volume 1 of the Bernstein DG conductor set.
