Thanks! Not released (as a CD) here until the 14th; I wondered if it were some such matter.

It was released in Europe 30 March although it still hasn't shown up, as a CD, at Amazon DE (maybe they sold out so quickly I missed it). Anyway, I ordered mine from the UK.

As I am not one of the Inner Circle at the Brian thread, the recent conversation left me cognizant that there was key information everyone was taking as read, but which was entirely dark to me  8)

Yet another GMGer jumpin' on the Monteux bandwagon  ;) :

Ordered from AmItaly, which (as usual) appears to be the cheapest European source (incl. P & P)....

They may have tried but I keep my phone turned off most of the time.

I got both voice-mail, and e-mail.

One of the highlights of a highlight-rich set.

Maybe consider the 1960 Death and Transfiguration after that.  Stupendously great.  If you don't like the work, Monteux can change your mind.

Thanks for the tip!

Just bought:

This looked like a good disc with some fascinating, seldom-heard works. Thomson's Filling Station and Kurka's Symphony No. 2 are of particular interest to me. I'm always on the lookout for mid-20th Century tonal American composers.

Thumbs up. A very nice disc. Especially the Kurka. I am curious to hear your reactions.

I am very prudent in ordering, because I want to get through my backlog, but this one was not to be resisted.

Perchance I am, though bound in wires and circuits fine,
yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

I have not heard it but it was recommended to me by someone whose taste I trust. Let me know what you think after your sampling.

Just ordered the Wilms CDs below (Halstead a 2-disc set w/ Symphonies 3-6) after some discussion in the listening thread - Dave :)

P.S. assume Brilliant licensed and re-released the Concerto Köln performances of Nos. 6 & 7.

André

I have the Concerto Köln version of the Wilms symphonies 6 and 7. Great stuff.  What label is the Halstead on, and how does it compare in the one symphony that overlaps ?
