I got the JC Bach "wind symphonies" with an earlier cover a few months ago. It's well played but I am afraid I was slightly dissapointed by the music.
MDG also has a disc with quintets by JC Bach for flute, oboe and strings which are very charming. I can recommend this one.

Hi Jo498 - well, all of those selections chosen received good to excellent reviews on the web, including the Bach Wind Symphonies (Review HERE) - also, I like the Consortium Classicum, so expect to enjoy but will see?  Concerning the 'quintets' mentioned, I own the two CDs shown below and assume you mean the one on the left - both are excellent IMO - Dave :)

Just ordered this:

Now I have volumes 51-54 to collect and this ridiculously expensive journey will be finally over.  :-X

Spatial distortion is a serious problem deteriorating headphone listening.

Hi Poju - yep, I've been buying these as the 'anniversary' boxes when released - most recent purchase (box 5) inserted above (15 discs; others 10 discs each, so 55 total CDs - not sure that I'll ever listen to all of these again - ;)) - hope that you're enjoying Suzuki's performances?  Dave :)

Yes Dave, I have been enjoying these Suzuki performances. I had a lot of the individual discs before the the first box came out and I want them to be SACD for multichannel sound.

Excellent. I was just listening to Frang's Nielsen the other night. Fantastic performance IMHO.

Lots of excellent repertoire in that set, Peter. Should be a good set. I might pick this one up myself (eventually).

Yes, it looks promising. I have been enjoying Ozawa's Philips recordings much more than I had expected so it was an easy decision. The cds in this set are unfortunately a little short time-wise...

I saw that one posted here recently and I have it on my List.

Hi Aligreto, have you seen these? They were released fairly recently and don't duplicate quartets found on the Diotima disc. I'll probably get them sometime.

There are also a few older cd's on the CPO label with the Mandelring Quartet.

Thank you for those recommendations. I am new to Onslow and I want to expand my small collection. I will add these to the List  8)

These are the spoils of a 48-hour business trip to Brussels and London, visiting brick-and-mortar shops between meetings:

From La Boite à Musique in Brussels:

Dancing Divertimentian had pointed this out in the SDCB thread, and I saw it reeeally cheap in Brussels. A First, superficial listen (in the car back from the airport last night) made avery good impression (only perhaps some more incisiveness and definition in the Prélude from Le Tombeau de Couperin could have been welcome, but all in all this is right up my alley as far as Ravel playing goes).

[asin]B00YCAU658[/asin]
Finally a chance to get to know Krenek's completion of Schubert's Reliquie sonata.

[asin]B00IO56TUI[/asin]
This will be my first contact with Togni's music.

From my first visit ever to Gramex near Watterloo Station (where chatting with the owner Roger about music, history and politics, while browsing CDs, was very pleasant--he's quite a character!):

[asin]B000023Y1H[/asin]
Another OOP CD from Cascioli, a pianist I greatly admire.

[asin]B005P3PTRQ[/asin]
I used to have Sawallisch's The Magic Flute on LP many, many years ago, and still have fond memories of it (but it never made it to my collection on CD).

And from Harold Moore's in Soho (as great a store as ever):

[asin]B002Q1LJZ6[/asin]
I'm intrigued by the solo piano versions of these late Debussy scores...
