Hi,

I am a new member on here,  so still finding my way round.

Could anybody help me with the exact title of a 14 second segment which is used on Pick Of The Pops,  after they play the number 2  record,  and before  the chart rundown.

I have enquired about this, and have been told it is by the National Philharmonic Orchestra,  from The Sea Hawk CD.    I have listened to two different Sea Hawk CDs, but unfortunetly the exact segment wasn't on either.

Maybe one of our members just may listen to Pick Of The Pops and know exactly what I am enquiring about!   It would be good to know the exact title, and preferably which CD it features on.

Thanks,

Ian.

Hi,

I am trying to find the exact title to a piece of classical/film score music,  that features weekly on BBC Radio 2  Pick Of The Pops.  It features  a 14 second segment  just after they play  the number 2 record,  and just prior to the chart rundown.  I have enquired to them,  and they tell me it is from The Sea Hawk CD.   I have listened to the CD that they sent a link for, but it isn't on there.  I also have listened to another CD with the same title, different length track,  but once again it's not on there.  It is by the National Philharmonic Orchestra.

Does anyone listen to Pick Of The Pops  (or via i-player)  and know the exact title of the piece I am enquiring about, and ideally a CD link would be fantastic!

Many thanks,

Ian.

Thanks DSCH71 for your quick reply.

Unfortunetly not, that is the CD that POTP recommended,  but that segment is not on there.

Strangely enough,  there were two other segments on there that used to be used during the Alan Freeman 1997 - 2000 period.

So,  the search goes on!

Interesting. Gambaccini is doing the show now? Back in my day it was Alan Freeman, or Fluff (not 'alf)

I think this is the piece you are looking for:

At The Sign Of The Swinging Cymbal - Brass Incorporated

I've listened to the Brian Fahey version but I'm pretty sure the version I remember is the above.
