What Pique Dame DVD ?

Mariinsky / Gergiev on Philips

... and I have never seen it complete. DVD is still a medium I often struggle with when it comes to opera.

I've spent the last faw days listening to the op 32 and 65 sets by the Festetics, and decided I like them quite a bit.

I posted the message this is referencing in the wrong thread (didn't notice until just now) Should have been in the listening thread. But yeah, I liked their op.50 better this time around. Growing on me.

Arrived today, two discs of Grieg piano works, including the Concerto, Sonata and various smaller works. Recommended by Jens:

"Another fine, slightly specialist release, of Grieg's Piano Concerto and select Lyric Pieces (played on Grieg's piano and trying to emulate Grieg's own performances), namely that of Sigurd Slåttebrekk with the Oslo Philharmonic under Michail Jurowski on Simax"

You've been listening to Ives today. Nothing like Ives to make Haydn grow on one!

Mein Kempff and a bonus.  Thanks Mc Ukrneal - whose well wish I'm certain made these not leave the shop before I got there:

Absolutely solid purchase.  I know many prefer the mono set, but this one is not to be denied a place on your shelf.

Trotted over to Barnes and Noble,  and found something mislabeled as Most Relaxing Cello CD with a price of $20.99.
The coupon was for 40% off.
I was ruthless.  Or I gave in to temptation.
At any rate I paid $12.01 including tax for the item.
The ASIN is B0091JQH76.

The curious can follow the trail from there.

Well done! 20 CDs of relaxing (and not so relaxing) music (most of it definitely not specifically for the cello)  :)

I got my set a couple of years ago for some 30 €, and thought that was a steal...

Hohohohoho, a release on which I was waiting......and finally its there.

http://walboi.blogspot.nl/2016/09/this-is-really-fabulous-release.html?spref=tw

Is it a reissue or a brand new release? AFAIK Simone Stella has been recording for OnClassical (an online-only Italian label), then Brilliant often reissue his recordings (on physical CDs).
I searched into their website http://www.onclassical.com/ but I couldn't locate the Froberger.

As far as I understood, this is brand new, but 100% sure I am not, I am waiting on a review copy.

I  read (forgot where) about half a year ago [Froberger/Stella], that he was working on a Froberger integral, which was soon to be released. This gave me the impression, that it is about new recordings.

Yes they are. Played on Four different Baroque organs and a Ruckers harpsichord.

Good to know, thanks friends!
I'm fond of Stella, I have his complete Buxtehude set, and I am very little familiar with Froberger... The two things match perfectly!
Straight into my wishlist  :)
