Just bought:

Rajter's Schmidt cycle has been a set I've been eyeing for years. I bought it for a ridiculously low price in like new condition.

The fact that I owned a Langgaard recording before you is shocking to me.  ;)  But it's a good one, enjoy!

Hah! I bought the Dausgaard set whenever it was released in 2009 (in fact, I pre-ordered it). Since then, I've kind of buying sporadically here and there. I think my dad owns a few of the Stupel recordings of the symphonies. I might have to complete his collection one of these days. :)

What do you own of Langgaard's, Greg?

It is very fine indeed, but my favorite Orfeo in video format is this:

[asin]B000JCE898[/asin]

due to a simply stunning Simon Keenlyside and an absolutely mesmerizing choreography.

I have 3 Orfeos on discs, 3 on CD and have seen it twice live (Pickett and his ensemble in 2004, the Freiburgers a few days ago). My favorite piece of musical theatre (this really isn't an opera as we currently understand the term).

The cover art looks odd to me - what is the work?

He's a Tunisian-born French pianist.  He's been a major label guy since the late-80s/early-90s, first for DG, then for RCA.  Not all of his titles are released globally.  His playing is best described as idiosyncratic.

I've seen it before while at BG, and really liked it.  (My friend had it and showed it to everyone in the program)

I'll look into the Rene Jacobs version too!

Bloch's first piano quintet is a masterpiece. Not to belittle his superb second quintet of course. Recorded versions are not exactly thick on the ground.

That purchase above will be my introduction to both works and my first recordings als so eagerly awaiting that CD.
