One thing of note, next to the very interesting e minor partita, is the sound of birds. La Roque must be famous for its birds as well as the festival, as they accompany Pletnev during the slow and quiet moments  :)

Almost made that same comment myself, Freire's live Papillons are accompanied by birds (probably by papillons as well but they tend to be better behaved at concerts).

This year's lineup has some interesting moments - Sokolov with plenty of Scriabin, Sudbin, Tharaud, Berezovsky playing both Chopin Concertos...

Here's mine:

A little over 1,100 CDs or so at the moment, plus around 50 LPs in a different location. Please excuse the low quality. My silly cameraphone is the only digital camera I have available at the moment.

O Mensch,

How much mileage do you get out of that superb listening chair? ;D

Veit Bach-a baker who found his greatest pleasure in a little cittern which he took with him even into the mill and played while the grinding was going on. In this way he had a chance to have the rhythm drilled into him. And this was the beginning of a musical inclination in his descendants. JS Bach

Lots.  ;D Though I only bought it about a year and a half ago. I wish concert venues had these.

Aw, that is so nice of him to give. French visa would be much more helpful though.

Yes, my IQ is remarkably high and I've dedicated my massive intellect to the problem of CD storage and cataloging. I'm the Einstein, Newton, Darwin of my field. ;D  Each CD gets a number assigned the day I buy it. The single CDs are stored chronologically:

I have the list on my computer and I print out a copy every six months or so.

I wasn't going to post my collection again, Mark, but since you requested it. The collection is spread out over four rooms but the bulk is contained within a room dedicated to record storage.

The opposite side of the room with the LPs:

Sarge

Sarge, a quick question if I may...any Ring Cycles (Wagner) in those photos?

  marvin

mahlertitan

Thought we were probably about due a thread where we can showcase our classical CD collections on this new forum. Here's a snapshot of mine: 800 or so on display, with another 200 or thereabouts in one of those slipcase type affairs. Oh, and I've got about 150 CDs worth of downloads on the PC which I've not yet burned to discs.

So come on, don't be shy. Show us yours. ;)

Mark all you did was make me despicably green...

Haffner

Wait, Marvin is making me even deeper green, and my condition is not helped by checking out Omensch's divine-looking chair!

You can clearly see Böhm's Ring: the big red box on the top shelf of the LP pictures. Solti is in there too. The CD Rings are just off camera in the second picture. Here are the opera shelves from the reverse angle:

Wagner occupies the top shelf (of course  ;D ) There's a small bust of Wagner my best friend gave me when I returned from Vietnam. Here are my CD Rings:

From the top left: Moralt, Levine, Barenboim; directly below Barenboim, Karajan flanked by Böhm and Krauss. My Rome Furtwängler is on loan to a friend.

Sarge
the phone rings and somebody says,
"hey, they made a movie about
Mahler, you ought to go see it.
he was as f*cked-up as you are."
                               --Charles Bukowski, "Mahler"

Papy Oli

i have this vision of Sarge doing some staff rotation and night shifts planning when he decides to proceed with dusting off the shelves....  ;D

Thats BRILLIANT Sarge. I really enjoyed that!!!  you certainly know your Wagner.  I only have 3 Rings Cycles (Solti, RAI Furtwangler and Levine DVD) but will be acquiring more along the years.  Haffner better look away because now I am GREEN with envy.  Happy Listening Sarge!!!

Here is my humble little collection about three months ago, which I have built up over the last 2.5 years. About 600 in total; looks less because I have a lot of box sets..(and more now not shown)so at this rate, well, in twenty years, I am going to have a problem...

Mark

Nice collection, Michel. I'd certainly be proud of that. :) Especially as it's taken you just three years to acquire.
