Are you thinking of ordering that one Todd?  I have a couple of albums by him that I enjoy (Live at Carnegie Hall and a Szymanowski one).  Haven't heard any of his Bach before, have you?  Or anyone else here?

I'm still trying to find out the release date. Searched on Amazon (US, UK, Germany), HMV Japan and so on, but nothing yet. Todd's link is Amazon's, so maybe I'm doing something stupid while searching  :-[
You're not alone there!   ::)

I own all his audio only recordings.  His Bach is fantastic, as is everything else.  He is one of the great living pianists.

You know you can hear him play some of WTC on YouTube? You can get a feel for what he's about in Bach for yourself that way.

The Carnegie Hall recording includes Partita no. 2. He's also recorded three other partitas and three English Suites for EMI/Warner, and before that a Harmonia Mundi CD with a French Suite and "Overture in the French Style".

I've liked everything I've heard from him.

I guessed I missed volume I, but I will investigate.
I was impressed by Daskalikis in Biber, and Giacometti seems a good fit in Schubert.

Thanks, as always, for posting.  :)

This was for me a great pleasure to hear, not that I've ever seriously explored recordings of the music, there may be "better" out there, but I thoroughly enjoy this one whenever I hear it

While I don't think he's a one trick pony, there's one trick he pulls off so much better than all the other things I've heard that it could well be close to that. The Diabelli Variations. That being said I've not heard all he's done.  I heard him play a couple of WTC things and it was certainly OK. But this guy's USP is to do with bass, he can make the bass notes so powerful and so beautiful -- sweet and strong. And he gets the chance to show that off big time in the Beethoven, less so in Bach and Mozart.

Thanks, I suspected after I wrote that that there might have been some Bach on one of the CDs; I should have double-checked!  ::)

Do you have any recordings by him JBS?  If so, thoughts?

Oh, at last! I've heard all of the symphonies on downloads from another forum.

Nice voice on Marco Beasley, lightweight music useful for ambience creation.

I didn't know he had recorded them ! I suppose that distribution of this release must be quite limited. Certainly a collector's item  :o.

If it's the Classico label, getting copies could be a little challenging (beyond second-hand copies mostly in Denmark). I'm fairly sure that's the label whose founder has a horrible reputation for being completely disorganised.

EDIT: This shop has it. https://plade-klassikeren.dk/en/danish-composers-artists-cd/906933-bentzon-the-tempered-piano-vol-1-13-niels-viggo-bentzon-15-cd-classico.html?search_query=bentzon&results=19

SECOND EDIT: Actually it's on iTunes. And also, there is a single disc extract on the Da Capo label, performed by Per Salo.
Nobody has to apologise for using their brain.

This Copenhagen shop is cheaper, originally associated with Classico label, but they've traditionally had a poor service/mailing reputation

The one mentioned above has a better reputation.

This second-hand shop chain might be worth consulting too

Mail should be less or around 100 DKK.

Like I said. There are stories of people sending money and never receiving anything. Also, there is no longer any actual shop at the address on Nørregade.

I had a great conversation with someone in one Copenhagen store where I repeated something about the man behind Classico/CdKlassisk being hopelessly disorganised. The man I was talking to paused and then said "that's the nicest thing I've ever heard anyone say about him".

Agree. The fellow is still in business though, with some continued engagements with artists etc. I accidentally came to phone the number of CDklassisk a few days ago (a long story, I haven't used the mail shop, but used to frequent the shop downstairs, when it existed quite a few years ago), without an answer on a Sunday, but he phoned back immediately. Second-hand I've seen the complete version down to DKK 50 or so, but for a mail order the price will be set higher.

Bach mostly, with a bit of Kuhnau and Bohm on a pretty big harpsichord, I mean it has a powerful bass stop. Interestingly embellished performance of the E flat major French suite. The theme is domestic small scale private Bach, but the performances are hardly small scale or tender.  Not unpleasant though.

If anyone can work out how to order it please let me know! Maybe you have to write to Lanvellec, I remember that's how I got Kenneth Gilbert's CD on the organ there.

(Double CD, good organ, maybe not the most sympathetic musician from my point of view but I can't resist the organ)

This happened also to me, when I ordered from his web shop several years ago, so I do not order from this shop any more. On the other hand he runs a media club with CDs, DVDs, books, films, which I have been a member of for at least 15 years, and everything has always worked impeccably there.

Also we have to thank him for several notable CD releases, in my sphere of interest e.g. the Bach organ integrale by Knud Vad and a CD release of the Brandenburg concertos conducted by Mogens Wöldike.
