Quote from: JBS on March 25, 2023, 11:40:24 AMThere does seem to be a lot of cellists, male and female, who have endangered their instruments for the sake of a CD cover.

I suspect valuable instruments are not harmed or even put in harm's way in photoshoots.

One of the ones I had in mind. Although that one is, I'm fairly sure, a photoshop.

Probably. But the cheapest used cello on Google--$115--is a rather expensive prop.

That is not expensive.

For a cello, dirt cheap. For a photo shoot prop, pricey.

No, it's cheap.

I suspect the marketing folks have this all sorted.

The artwork for one of Tori Amos' albums involves a burning piano. Forget danger, that instrument was having a funeral.

Went looking for it but neither Amazon nor Discogs show such a cover. Just this book.

I did discover this exists (as "currently unavailable")

And of course "Volume 2" means there's a companion CD out there somewhere.

The album is Boys for Pele. It's not the main thing on the actual cover, it's very small. But there's more of it in the rest of the artwork.

There are all sorts of things in the art of that album that are supposed to be a bit shocking, but I think the piano was the one that was really meant to disturb the "right" people.

Symphonic Addict

Quote from: Daverz on March 25, 2023, 01:35:11 AMI didn't, either.  I can't find any other recordings of any C-T string quartets.  With those opus numbers, there must be dozens and dozens of unknown C-T works.

Indeed, I was taking a look at his list of compositions on Wikipedia and there are tons of works that seem interesting and intriguing, including ballets, operas and choral works.
Part of the tragedy of the Palestinians is that they have essentially no international support for a good reason: they've no wealth, they've no power, so they've no rights.

Couple more May releases on Naxos.

88:53 on a single disc!

Complete Etudes. Seems like Han Chen has been a star so far in an eclectic discography of Liszt, Ades, and Rubinstein.

The Rubinstein Etudes CD is one minute shorter than the Adam.
