No need to apologise, man. There are definitely pieces I would happily describe as "one of the most boring I have heard" - many of them recorded on CPO, coincidentally.

Nice to see that reissued. My favorite recording of Miserere for solo voice. Original release was a two disc set where second disc had an hour long recited sermon on death by Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet, French 17th century theologian. It was interesting as a concept, with Tenebres, but doubt it got much spin by anyone.

I had been waiting for this one actually. Yeah, I will not miss the sermon..
Oh, and anyone who likes Baroque music should check out the Zelenka Missa Votiva - an awesome work in a great recording.

I love the color coordination of their reissues. Makes them feel like collectibles rather than retreads, and helps erase the sting of losing Fuga Libera, Zig Zag, Ricercar, etc and their distinctive design styles.

Fuga Libera and Ricercar are still around though ... the former has slowed to a drizzle but did s few excellent releases last year!

The upcoming Boccherini on alpha is nice btw ... I've had it for a few weeks.

Somehow I'd wish she did the whole shebang ... the first disc lies so far back, and I find her tone and playing on the thick side there. But good to see something new.

At the same time I wish she'd record some more these days, and not just Mozart and Bach, but also - at least, it's already old by now as well - that Prokofiev 1 she did so fabulously in concert half a year back!

Bad news: I agree with you. But she promotes this recording as she was finally able to complete them, so that seems to be it.
Good news: She looks like she adjusted to her new responsibilities of being a mother of two in three years, so she can continue contributing to this form of art again.

Yep, I'd heard about cancelled concerts. But when she did Prok 1 in Zurich, she was terrific (and still heavily pregant, too), and probably more engaging/less sweet than on any of her records, on top of that. Seemed like she's evolved in those slower years, which is of course good news, too.

On topic: the upcoming Munch box ... and the huge one by Henryk Szeryng - they are tempting suckers!

Are you going to buy it?

Yes, I think so.

Even if my interest in the Violin S&P is somewhat limited compared to the Cello suites, I still intend to acquire special recordings (only on period instruments though).

Hmm.  His (now First) Violin Concerto is the one work by him that I actively like.  I will be awaiting this one with interest.

Lintu & Finnish RSO are recording (for Ondine) this coming season Bartók PCs with Mustonen, the rest of a Lutoslawski complete symphony set, Joonas Kokkonen's Requiem, and BA Zimmermann's Die Soldaten "vocal symphony".
