Looks interesting. I attended a concert at the local church in 2018 featuring a work by a local composer in commemoration of World War One. I wasn't expecting much but found it really excellent and very moving. It was based on the diaries of the composer's grandfather who had been a doctor in the British Army in WW1.

There was an excellent earlier release from these forces featuring Symphony No.6
This actually completes a full cycle, they have released 4-7.

Well, if they are all as good as No.6 that will be a great set.

7 is really good and includes the "alternate finale" as a separate track. I'm not sure about 4 and don't remember their 5th (not a good sign!).

6 with Lieutenant Kijé and the Three Oranges (I think) had a great review, so I made my daughter buy it for me a few Christmases ago. Now she has asked me to search out some classical music which she might like and I'm having fun doing this.

Oh how fun!  What has the success rate been so far?

Quite successful really. She likes Elgar's Cello Concerto so I sent her 'The Waggon Passes' from the Nursery Suite and 'Sospiri' (I think). Prokofiev's 'Romeo and Juliet', 'Fair Lisa' from Alun Hoddinott and 'Aphrodite in Aulis' by William Alwyn.

Excellent!  You might want to make and keep a list of what you have sent her and what her reactions were (if you haven't already started one)?

To go with the new piano sonata cycle and the visual streaming PC cycle.  Perhaps a new set of Violin Sonatas and Cello Sonatas may yet arrive.

Good suggestion PD.
Malcolm Arnold's 5th Symphony will be wending its way to her soon coupled with 'The Belles of St Trinian's Suite' - she is a great fan of the films.

I've been holding off on Williams' Schubert, but now that eight discs have been boxed up, it could offer an A/B with Pienaar.

Is this an 8-CD box?

One day, there will be no new recordings that interest me.  Today is not that day.

A timely complete set.

Whatever's included in the recording, I want it.

Nice to see more Odradek releases.  No reason Shakira shouldn't influence other genres, even if it applies only to covers.

From the austere album cover collection.

Like the Capuçons, but more of them.

Huh.
