Luisi's Inextinguishable appears to be rather slow: 36:31, compared to Gilbert (36:00), Oramo (35:26), Kuchar (34:00), or Martinon (32:44).

The whole cycle will be released on CD in a complete boxset in spring 2023.

It is this Danish orchestra's debut on the yellow label!

I don't know if debut on DG means more to come or if the Nielsen is a one-off.

Has anyone ever listen to Melchior Schildt's organ music, also on Aeolus. And if yes, could I get some feedback on this interpretation.

Yes in 2018, and I've not revisited it. I liked it it seems

I'll get it out later.

Thank you I will check the link out. I was taling about the Aeolus disc regarding the Schildt :)

yet still I speak in verse, and call thee mine;
for music's truths and friendship's steady cheer,
are sweeter far than any stage could hear.

It's a future release listed at Amazon France.  No pricing yet.
Thanks for the info.

I have about 5 of their discs.  I'll have to compare to the box listing.

PD

Update:  I just checked Amazon.fr's website and it says 50 CDs and 171.10 euros.  And no track info!  :(

I did check Praga's website and initially couldn't find it, but did in the end.  Contents are listed as well as expected release date:  https://pragadigitals.bandcamp.com/album/pra-k-quartet-the-complete-praga-digitals-recordings-1992-2018-50cd-limited-edition

By the way, I hadn't realized how much their lineup has changed.  Totally new group of musicians now.  The set is of older recordings (up to, I think, 2018) when at least some of the original members were still around from what I understand anyway.

Thank you so much for finding this listing. It looks like I have around 28 out of 50 already. Quite an annoying situation, I have to do serious math on whether it is more cost-effective to buy the remaining volumes individually used.  ;D

EDIT: 29. The one that really tempts me is a Haydn disc that is $200+ for a used copy.

You're welcome!

I only have about 5 of theirs (will double check later).  I've really been enjoying revisiting the ones that I have.  And lucky you to have 29(!) of them.  Do you have particular favorites?  And last I checked, some of the ones that I'm particularly in are out of print.  It's still a lot of moolah (sp?) though...and I wonder how much the shipping would be?  I'm guessing that the price listed includes VAT which would be dropped.  Any idea what that is running these days?

Is that pricey Haydn disc included in that boxed set?

Back to some more Martinu for me!

PD

p.s.  I took another look and it appears that I have less than I thought that I did.  :(   I think that I only have three with the quartet.  One that I listened to earlier (which I enjoyed) is just for cello and piano. (Martinu).  I also have the one that I mentioned on the listening thread (excellent CD), Prazak Quartet in Concert, and a Prokofiev one (String Quartet No. 2, etc.).

I am not aware that this release is yet posted, so her it is.
I very much look forwards to it.

You can hear the organ here, I can imagine it's a good sound for Titelouze

Looking through their listings:  1) Looks like there's an error re Janacek (look at the bottom of the first one), and 2) They also seem to have taken out a lot of the non-quartet pieces.  I dug further in my CDs and found that I have two ones of Feld of theirs.  One that I noticed also has the Smetana Quartet playing a piece (J.87) so that's not included.  Also, for instance, the Prokofiev CD that I have also includes (besides his second string quartet) his Ballade, Op. 15, the adagio from Cinderella and cello sonata, Op. 119.

Oooooh!  Where did you see the Prazak one listed?  And what kind of prices have you seen it going for?  Or is it still in the pipeline?

Too bad DePreist never got to do something like this with an American orchestra, at least that I am aware of.

Couldn't find this online (maybe Spotify has it) but found this instead

Which I am listening to and thoroughly enjoying. If you told me I'd be enjoying a chamber version of an LvB symphony I would have laughed at you but this is excellent.

Barenboim's prior Staatskapelle Berlin cycle is my reference, so I kinda have to hear this one.

Christmas releases!

The van Bueren mazurkas now streaming. The leaflet is interesting because it credits someone with "piano technique"  It all seems tickety-boo, very pleasant playing, recording and instrument. Something to explore for me certainly.

Daniel Tong's Beethoven also streaming, and though I'm not in the mood for the music at the moment, I can tell it's a valuable release and deserves to be heard by people who like this sort of Beethoven. A more substantial booklet here

Even Nielsen on the cover looks a bit underwhelmed at the thought of ANOTHER Nielsen cycle.  I love Nielsen, I like Luisi and of course the Danish NSO are superb but really.......

Better than another Beethoven/Brahms/Bruckner/Mahler cycle... ;)
