I thought I recognized this album cover. It's a zoomed-in version of the painting BIS used for a volume of the Villa-Lobos Choros.

Wow, January is a banner month for the Stravinsky Violin Concerto, competing recordings from two of the greatest violinists alive...

Part of the tragedy of the Palestinians is that they have essentially no international support for a good reason: they've no wealth, they've no power, so they've no rights.

I've been listening to the Brahms op 26 piano quartet - it seems a rather better transfer than the CD release.  There's a Vol 2 if you search for Heimbach on Presto, it's all streaming.

My Russian is next to non-existent, but I can make out the word "ballet". The cover art would fit Swan Lake. Is that what it is?

Exactly: Lebedinoe ezero, ie Swan Lake.

If this is this old recording hardly a "new" release......

which was the first complete "Russian" performance I knew 40+ years ago which latterly turned up on this RCA twofer..... I know the orchestras are listed as different but I'm pretty sure it is the same version(?)

I love it as a performance - those old blarey soviet brass players!

Will we exclude reissue?Furthermore, a good remastering, especially in melodiya discs, is often necessary

Please keep posting them, plenty of people post reissues in this thread. The original Melodiya 2 CD set is extremely rare and not everyone plays LPs.

Brian

Speaking of reissues, here's a new view of the 78 CD complete Schiff/Decca box...original jackets, long box rather than big square box, jumbo booklet.

Supposed to be late January/February now, and significantly more expensive (250 euros) than the usual 80ish CD box. I feel like the market's set itself around $2 a disc for these Big Boxes.

Another instalment of this Series from CPO.
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

It could be of interest for some:

Another super-interesting release from CPO!

Three discs in total.

Apparently this was released on Nov. 30th, and yet is listed on Amazon as unavailable. A bit confusing.
It's all good...
