Forgive me if this has already been mentioned - looks pretty amazing to me:

Rameau's sumptuous and exquisitely crafted works for the theater represent a peak of achievement in French music. These superb recordings - which feature nine of his most significant masterpieces - were first released by Erato between 1974 and 2002 and played a crucial role in returning the composer's works to the world's stages. The collection includes performances by some of the world's leading singers of yesterday and today, including Frederica von Stade, Lorraine Hunt and Mark Padmore, as well as ensembles such as Les Arts Florissants and Les Musiciens du Louvre led by the likes of William Christie, Sir John Eliot Gardiner and Nikolaus Harnoncourt.

CD Listing
CD 1-3: Hippolyte et Aricie - William Christie
CD 4-6: Les Indes Galantes - Jean-François Paillard
CD 7-9: Castor et Pollux - Nikolaus Harnoncourt
CD 10-11: Les Fêtes d'Hébé - William Christie
CD 12-13: Dardanus - Raymond Leppard
CD 14-15: Platée - Marc Minkowski
CD 16: Pigmalion - Nicholas McGegan
CD 17: Les Surprises de l'Amour - Marc Minkowski
CD 18-19: Naïs - Nicholas McGegan
CD 20-22: Zoroastre - William Christie
CD 23: La Guirlande - William Christie
CD 24: Zéphyre - William Christie
CD 25-27: Les Boréades - John Eliot Gardiner

I already have those recordings... but that big box looks very tempting.

André

How much is it, and are librettos included ?

I have all recordings in that box, except for the Paillard and Leppard discs which are available in much better recordings elsewhere, and McGegans Pygnalion which wuld be nice to have. Christie on HM for the Paillard, and Minkowsky on Archiv for the Leppard.

Several new releases on the way...

This looks particularly interesting. Thanks for posting, Mirror Image:)

Although I don't really need yet another Sinfonia in my collection (but it'll always be welcome, of course  ;) ), it seems to me that the Calmo included in this CD is the later, revised and expanded version of 1990. The original, much shorter 1974 original is hauntingly beautiful, so this goes straight on to my wishlist.  ;)

The McGegan version of Pygmalion is in that box set. It's CD 16.

Oops. I thought you thought McGegan's Pygmalion wasn't in the box set and you wished for it, rather than saying you thought it nice that it was there. Oops. Sorry about that.

Anyway, here are the contents, with links to the separate releases:
(Box set details at Warner Classics)

And I'm with you regarding the older recordings (Leppard, Paillard, Harnoncourt). They sound old-fashioned, and certainly don't* fit in with the newer recordings by those brash young whippersnappers (Christie, McGegan, Minkowski).

(*Well, not to me anyway.)

That Rameau box looks delish.  I have eight discs' worth, so I'll have to do a bit of research to see whether it's a 'definitely' or a 'maybe'.

For me, it has a few duds – namely, old, old recordings by Leppard (1979 Dardanus), Paillard (1975 Les Indes Galantes), and Harnoncourt (1972 Castor et Pollux).

However, it does include some out-of-print recordings (Pygmalion and Naïs with McGegan, La Guirlande and Zéphyre with Christie, and Les Boréades with Gardiner).

Still, I'd recommend heading off to eBay or Amazon and buying the separate releases.

[snip] ... and McGegan's Pygmalion which would be nice to have... [snip]

It looks like McGegan's Pygmalion was never released on CD (I can't find it anywhere), so that would indeed be very nice to have. However, I don't think it's worth paying 85-ish dollars for the box set just to have that. But I'm a completist...

I already have most of these recordings but am still tempted, as I don't have Pygmalion, Naïs, La Guirlande, Zéphyre and Les Boréades - but it's annoying, to put it mildly, that Erato haven't seen fit to include a CD of libretti. Not too much to ask, is it?

For a large company trying to save a small amount of money: Yes.

Oh good lord...somebody re-orchestrated "Carnival of the Animals". Martyn Brabbins and BBC Wales are releasing it in a few weeks.

"Carnival of the Animals".
That would be a superb name for this site.

Ray, you remind me I need to collect the rest of the series. I'm lacking Symphonies 13 & 14. This new one should be excellent. I wish, however, that Petrenko would record some other works by Shostakovich. Like, for example, it would nice to have another complete recording of The Bolt and The Golden Age. I hope Petrenko's next composer stop will be Myaskovsky or even Schnittke, but I won't hold my breath here. Karlo (North Star) and I were just talking last night about how awesome it would be for Naxos to release a whole series of Schnittke orchestral and choral works (incl. the Requiem and Faust Cantata).
