Will someone please listen to the sample clips for Carmignola's Bach concertos and tell me if I'm deluded for thinking that he makes them all sound a whole lot like Vivaldi?

Those samples remind me of Il Giardino Armonico's Handel, which some people say sounds like Vivaldi. For the VCs on PI I have Mackintosh-Wallfisch. Samples of a bunch of others have not convinced me to start collecting alternate versions. (On MI have Grumiaux but have always found it too lush.) This one sounds different enough that I might indulge.

Any recommendations on the Ukraine series?

OVERVIEW

More goodies!

Pierre Hantaï

Chorale Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten BWV691
Fantaisie en la mineur BWV944
Suite anglaise n°2 en la mineur BWV807
Chorale Wer nur den lieben Gott lässt walten BWV690
Chorale Jesus, meine Zuversicht BWV728
Concerto italien en fa majeur BWV971
Chorale Liebster Jesu, wir sind hier BWV706
Suite anglaise n°6 en ré mineur BWV811

I heard Hantaï play all the English suites earlier this year, superbly. I'm a bit surprised that he only released two of them. This will be worth having I'm sure.

I'm very excited about this new Morton Feldman CD, recorded mainly by John Tilbury for Another Timbre label, coming out next month.

The youtube extract of Two Pianos is strikingly serene and beautiful. Thank you for the info. I much prefer Feldman's piano works to his compositions for other instruments.

Though the price isn't great yet:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MG8V7MY/ref=pe_940330_125734920_em_1p_0_im

It's already in the $120 range at some places. Moonfish already ordered a box for a bit less than that, I think.  My shop has it for just over $100.
It's all good...

The new erato

But is it worth getting musically?

Oh, that's a different question altogether. Maybe you should ask in the "thinking about buying thread"?

It depends on how many glasses of Cabernet you have while listening...     :D :D

I do want the DG Bernstein box, but Deutsche Grammophon respects itself, so they are charging a fair (over $100) price, unlike Sony. So I just have to scrimp'n'save for a few more months.
