Just noticed that since the beginning of this month,  I've only ordered two CD/CD sets,   and both of those were off the SDCB thread,  total cost under $15US.

To be mitigated by the fact that I've also bought in that time frame roughly a $100 worth of books, and bought a $400 tablet.  And it's making room for the tablet in my budget that's prompted me to cut down on buying.....

Genius. What was the working title? "BMG Hates Repeat Customers?"

Sounds like a boring, unoriginal person who I wouldn't be interested in befriending.

Really? Doesn't seem like the type that you'd be able to talk to about music or great art, etc.

No, but you could talk to him about wine, women and cars. You need to expand your horizons, dude. There is more to life than music and video games.

My interest in cars is limited pretty much to watching The Rockford Files, but otherwise, sounds great!  ;D

Coolest cars on TV: Magnum's Ferrari 308GTS; John Steed's vintage Bentley; and Mrs. Peel's Lotus Elan.

There were so many reasons to watch that show, and those cars were two of them. Yet another is in the picture! :)

It's good to know that whatever differences we have in music, we can agree on this very critical point! :)
Be kind to your fellow posters!!

Yeah, we can. I had a serious crush on Mrs. Peel when I was 16 (when the show debuted in the States)...come to think of it, that crush still goes on unabated today  ;D

Guess I'll explain those for me personally...

Cars = was interested in grades 4-6 and wanted to be a car designer at one point. Lost interest when I started playing RPGs, started playing guitar, getting into music and learning Japanese all around the same time (the age of ~13). I would draw cars constantly and read the newest Motor Trend whenever I could around that time. Now, whenever I talk to my friends about cars, I really can't get into it. They're just kinda boring.

Wine = ugh. Tried it and it's probably a good thing I find alcohol disgusting, because my biological dad has drinking issues to this day.

Women = not much to talk about, though I used to talk about a couple of them when I knew some cute girls.

Hmmm... now that I realize it, these topics come up basically constantly with my closest friend. Sounds messed up, but I know at least two other people that I would rather spend that time talking to because we talk about music or video games instead.

Besides, wine/women/cars- how unoriginal and shallow can you get? I respect someone with a strong passion for something like fishing much more than those things, and I don't even fish. I do go the gym, but people whose only goal in life is to work out really seem sad, because working out is such a shallow activity. I suppose you could make a big deal out of wine creation or a car hobby, but I prefer things that aren't so shallow.

Oh, and about the expanding my horizons part... man, I wish I had time for that. Seriously. Less hobbies would benefit me greatly.  ;)  ;D

nice pillows!! :P :o :-*

:'( :'( :'( :'(

All these old ladies are hitting on me. :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( fuuuuuuuuu.......

Wow, I haven't had any fun since I got here five long years ago. :(

(trance)

ok, snap out of it.... (shivers).... wow, that was scary ten seconds there....

Seriously, I've asked every female I know.... turns out I'm hot for the lesbian too, wgh.... and she's a political lesbian, so it's all in here head, ugh ugh.... and she's the only one who is at all interesting, but then she gets on the soap box....

aaaaahhhhhh

Can just ONE girl I'M interested in be interested in me too??? Fuuuu..... I'm tired of just getting the ones who like ME. At this point, I seem to have only attracted women  that I feel I need to be rude to to get them to stop. :( :( :(

"So, honey, you come here often?" Yes, the oldest drunk lady came on to me. I mean, they all say I'm handsome, and bla bla, but I'm dying.....

I'm at the point where I just want to ask random women if they're up for some fun. I've already been uber rejected for being a chump, so why not just...... uh...... I don't know- if girls like 'asshole bad boys' well I just don't do 'asshole' well- they REALLY think I'm an ass when I try to be the bad boy.

so depressed... just me and Schnittke... hangin out..... fuuuu.....

I even thought about "spending money", but, no, that's not even real, is it? (and don't make me tell you how I know)

No equality as long as they have all the p****.

sorry, had to let that all out- it's a new year and ....

You know, the only place I really really forget my misery is in the shower. Warm water seems to make things go away. That and a giant constitutional. Otherwise- why do I even want to eat since I have no one to share it with?

I made my own English Toffee- why am I not a catch?? (I make my own pizza, I make english toffe,- I mean, wtf ladies???)
\

It's funny though- I'm sure the ladies on this site have had quite a dose of the snyprrr brand, and I can only imagine my standing would be pretty low- unless a flattering pic takes all that away?

How cultured really do I want my lady?

Anyhow, that's enough food for the lions for one post :(  (I just don't care, do I?) Am I like Marty Pufkin? (Paul Schaeffer)

Whoa whoa WHOA hang on. There need not be anything shallow about those passions. Sure, you can treat them in shallow ways, by getting blackout drunk on $4 Barefoot wine and sleeping with every woman you meet without caring who they are, but you can make anything shallow if you want to.

I think you'll find many GMGers, like myself, who put a lot of time and knowledge into wine because it is such a diverse, rich, fascinating culture, indeed at its best an art form. The art and science of wine-making, the microscopic and macroscopic geography of wine, the very nearly infinite tastes, smells, evocations, memories it can evoke. The responsible merriment that can be had sharing wine, food, and conversation with dear friends. The interest, which has no relation to getting drunk, which can be had in comparing, say, five wine-makers' approaches to one grape.

I'm not big on cars, but my father is, and again, there is nothing "shallow" about it; it is his career, in fact, and it has saved us thousands of dollars because our cars run for decades. There is yet much for him to teach me.

As far as "women," well, that's 51% of the human species, and rightly known as the better half. All I'll say about that is we're darn lucky we get to live on a planet with women, and that they haven't kicked us off yet. :)

Wine = ugh. Tried it

What did you try? Thunderbird? A jug of Gallo? Chateau Latour?  ;D  Just saying wine tells me nothing. There are myriad varietals, styles and quality levels (from rotgut to the utterly sublime). Saying you tried one wine and decided it was "ugh" is like hearing a song by Justine Bieber and deciding all music sucks.

Well, I kinda hinted at this somewhere, but probably in too much of a small way to even notice. My bad.

I still don't think that having a vineyard or being a car designer could ever be as deep as being a composer. But yeah, that's true, I guess if it isn't shallow if you don't make it shallow.

Ughh... Brian, this is terrible to think this way, really. How can you have equality when you prefer one gender over another? That's the problem we've had for centuries where men have been favored. Favoring women doesn't solve the inequality problem.  :-\

Yeah, ummm... [music/guitar/other instruments, video games, computer programming, anime, languages/Japanese, basketball, art/drawing] is a bit more than [cars, women, wine, soccer/football (whatever sport is was he played)]. I think that guy needed to expand his horizons.

I don't remember which brand. Just some cheap wine from Publix, so it probably wasn't supposed to be good, anyways.  ;D It was just the taste of alcohol that bothered me. I really liked grape juice and whenever I see wine in the store, it all looks really good. I'd rather drink disgusting seltzer water than taste alcohol.

I will consider trying other types, but first I have to graduate so I can move out of my parents house before I'm able to drink any alcohol. So... sometime in 2016.

Just keep an open mind and when you're ready ask advice from someone who really knows wine well. It really is fabulous partnered with food.
