The Missing persons thread is providing us with much needed humor and a few laughs, not in a derogatory way towards our esteemed members on GMG I might add. The world is gloomy as it is, and as long as we keep this thread clean from all negatives we will continue to have fun.
I've always had great respect for Paddington because he is amusingly English and a eccentric bear He is a great British institution and emits great wisdom with every growl. Of course I have Paddington at home, he is a member of the family, sure he is from the moment he was born. We have adopted him.

I fully respect people's decision to leave, but the whole thing of continuously going back and forth just confuses me...  :-\

What intrigues me, in line with previous comments, is that the habit of frequently leaving or changing user names indicates that the aim of participating on the forum is not to socially interact with people in a normal way, building social relations and getting to know each other at least to some extent.

What you then get is anonymous interaction with people - or rather just account names and pictures - that are here today and gone tomorrow.

I mean, it's a choice everybody makes for themselves. But it makes it harder for me personally to interact in a satisfying way.

True also, and I must admit that this is an aspect bothering me excessively also. To build up a musical friendship is almost impossible when people appear and disappear at will.

It must be added, though, that continuous membership and consistency in username and avatar is no guarantee for sociability, either: witness the laconic solipsism and complete indifference to others manifested by a certain member --- and I think you all know who I'm referring to.  ;D

But...but Dvorak, ERROR, it is Taneyev, so he is such a good looking guy ;D  ;D  ;D

We need a thread for rating the attractiveness of composers.
Every single post on the forum is unnecessary. Including the ones that are interesting or useful.

My grandmother used to have a little framed portrait of the young, clean-shaven Brahms!

Strangely enough they all look the same to me, with those beards and all that. I am primarily fixed on Tchaikovsky and Dvorak, so be not offended, will you? ;D  ;D  ;D
Okay Taneyev it is :o

Oh not offended Harry!! Truth be told, I probably should have a Dvorak avatar, since he is a co-favourite composer of mine.

Back to actual missing members, I miss @mc ukrneal

He had a most substantial survey of the Tchaikovsky 5th Symphony.

Yes me too, Ukrneal was one of those members I appreciated enormously, but he suddenly disappeared, as so many others. We should have a reinvite button on GMG. And then Spam those guys every day until they return! ;D  ;D

I'm not sure exactly when I joined, but I do remember I was using my Gateway on dial-up, so my time here is in the decades range. While I'm not always particularly active, I check in pretty regularly and have never changed my user name, avatar, or quit. I appreciate this place.

It's about your being suggested several times it was high time you left the forum voluntarily, or else!  ;D  :P  >:D

(Sorry, Jeffrey, couldn't resist. In reality it's about a software bug I encountered several times as well)
