Der lächelnde Schatten

Quote from: Madiel on February 19, 2025, 11:16:22 PMSpeculating about the causes of Bell's palsy is distinctly unhelpful. Especially when the current situation concerns treatment, not prevention.

And frankly, someone on the internet saying that they don't see how steroids would help is neither here nor there. Because even the internet will tell you that steroids have in fact been shown to help.

Get well soon, John.

Thank you, Madiel. I sought out medical treatment and that's what I got, because I didn't know what to do or what was happening. I'm glad I made that appointment.

And adding my good wishes to everyone else. From what I know, it clears up in a few weeks or months, and I hope that is true for you.

Thank you both so much. I appreciate your kind thoughts.

Thanks, Jeffrey. This is probably for a severe case, which the doctor didn't mention mine was and assured me that it will go away on its own in about two to three weeks. I also spoke with someone else about it and this person said their best friend had it and showed significant improvement in three weeks.

Excellent - that's good news John.

I hope he's well - can anyone email him?

Todd does seem to take an extended break every winter. IIRC his work means the US income tax season is a busy time for him.

It seems that Cesar (@Symphonic Addict) doesn't want to come back to the forum. I'm not really sure what happened, but I've messaged him on the TC forum and he didn't give any specific reason why he has decided not to contribute here anymore. Perhaps I can convince him to come back. He always said he liked this forum a lot more than any others.

Do tell him he's missed.

I just sent Cesar (@Symphonic Addict) a message on behalf of those here who have expressed a want for his return. Let's hope he considers coming back.

Thanks for doing that John. I miss his contributions.

When rains it pours as the old adage goes, this morning, around 8 to exact, I awoke to use the bathroom and, all of sudden, I felt a little tingle in the right side of my nose and then it started to bleed uncontrollably --- and, actually, it ended up becoming both nostrils that were affected. I have a history of nosebleeds and the cause has always been cold or flu-related symptoms where the inner lining of both nostrils have become raw. Anyway, I had to wake my mom so she could drive me to the ER and finally they were able to stop the bleeding. I received a referral to go to the ENT doctor in their network and so scheduled an appointment for next Monday (the 17th).

Hopefully, I can get the veins in my nose cauterized so I won't have this problem again. I just can't allow this to happen again, because not only does it hinder all activity to the point of standstill, but it affects others, too. Trust me, I didn't want to bother anyone with my problem.

On the upside, the Bell's palsy I was diagnosed with is subsiding and movement in the right side of my face has returned. I still have some trouble with swishing water around in my mouth, but I suppose this comes with the territory. Both of my parents mentioned to me they have seen a vast improvement in my condition.

That's both bad news and good news but it seems the good is more important than the bad. Best luck with your nostrils, anyway!
