Re the Heliotrope (which I have) and Aliénor Voices (which is strangely recorded IMO, though it's not a problem), I find myself increasingly choosing to listen to heterophonic music like this rather than more elaborate polyphony, I like the poise of it.

Which begs the question what you'll consider reasonable. Here it is for 19 Euros from Amazon.de.
That's a lot more reasonable, at least, than from other countries via that route.

Yes, I saw that, they won't ship it to the UK. The only one I can get to London that I can see is £65

Try to send them a message through amazon. More often than not, MP sellers are willing to "liberate" the item for international shipping.

I've heard it, only once though. Performance sounded fine on a first listen, but the balance between piano and orchestra struck me as skewed, with piano way too much forward for a modern recording. Found it distracting. Should listen to it again with headphones.

Thanks, comments duly noted. It's in my cart now, will have to wait until next year (in 3 weeks ) to push the 'purchase' button. My budget for this year is busted. If the price holds until then, fine. If not, tant pis!

I am in complete agreement with Drasko.  Balance is really poor - a real sense that Buniastishvilli's is being given the "star" treatment in audio terms with every little bit of piano passagework deemed more important than any primary material the orchestra might have.  Also the general engineering is not great - the Czech PO don't sound anything special and the resonance of the hall is more of a problem on this disc than others from the same location.

An automated reply -- but presumably indicative of the fact that they are not an individual and not willing, for economic reasons, to adopt their system to make an exception. These second hand dealers are working on very small margins, it is understandable that they don't want to bother with the rare order from abroad, even if for a ca. EUR 20 item it might even be worth their while.

Yep, rebuy is a drag. I'll have things shipped to a friend in Germany every once in a while and he'll pass them on to me (at his cost, but he gets plenty of stuff from me, too).

Just ordered that Stimmwerck disc to his address (the Finck that was recommended above).

I can't find samples of the Heliotrope recording but the Alienor Voices is not really to my taste: stylistically it is utilizing something like "pop" phrasing (reminds me of Clannad, which isn't a bad thing in itself - but not if I am looking for a recording of plainchant) and in a overly reverberant environment.  But the deal-breaker for me is the high voices, I assume females.  My general impression is of one of the many "new age" chant recordings.

I don't think one can do better than the many recordings from l'Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Solesmes for this music.  But Marcel Peres and Ensemble Organum has also released some very good recordings of early monophony.
