the Alienor Voices is not really to my taste: stylistically it is utilizing something like "pop" phrasing (

Just something I picked up about the embellishments mainly at the end of phrases: slides up to notes and a little figuration falling off.  The kind of thing you hear all the time from pop singers.

What I felt listening to that recording is that it's somehow relaxing, it reminded me of Thomas Binkley's Dufay CD in that way, just a pleasure to let it wash over you, meditatively! I find one of the woman's voices very sexy too, I used to know someone who sounded like her if she had smoked to much.

Has anyone heard (any of) this?

I love the few recordings of Cerasi's that I have so far (one disc with Haydn, one CPE) and my curiosity is piqued!

Most interesting!  :)
A bit peculiar that she would dive in such an undertaking with (seemingly) limited experience in French harpsichord repertoire? But I will be certainly be checking this out - we need more options in F. Couperin sets!
Sofar between Noëlle Spieth (STILL, OOP), Baumont (Warner) and Rousset (HM, OOP). Christophe Rousset wins hands down and Baumont is rather dissapointing. I haven't heard Scott Ross - another OOP I wouldn't mind being reissued.

Also promising might be the recently started cycle by Bertrand Cuiller (HM, in sets of 2 discs):

They do seem to ship to the UK, thanks for that.

He is a great harpsichord player!

I have ordered several times from Polish radio (still need to catch up on around the latest ten - I think - of their great "Polish Radio Jazz Series"), never a problem so far.

The Klosievicz box is a steal indeed - but I never heard of him so far ... can you fill us in with a bit more information?

Isn't their shipping charge a bit through the roof, though?

I ordered the Scarlatti via aDe yesterday (for 7 something € - price just went up to 16 again ...)

And yes, by comparison to the prices of the CDs, shipping from Polish Radio is expensive, but the CDs are usually in the 5-7€ range, so adding 40-50% for shipping isn't that big a deal, considering they sell stuff you are quite unlikely to find elsewhere (that "Polish Jazz Radio Series" certainly is great, and if you try looking for the discs elsewhere you will only find a few and they'll be usually priced higher than you pay to order them from Warsaw, shipping included).

Just read a five-star review of the Cuiller last night (in print and in German, so can't share) - loved his Rameau set and I guess I'll order this one as well! And the Rousset to, possibly (uhm, that's Louis, not François!).

Not sold on Cerasi at all, I thought the same as you, but we may just not be aware, who knows? Let's see if some reviews pop up eventually.

The Scarlatti is incredibly colourful and breathtakingly virtuoso, I'm hoping he plays François Couperin in a similar way, since I think the music could benefit.

God help me, the holidays are upon us and I find myself considering this:

Daverz

Live Shostakovich 10 & 11 from Skrowaczewski and the Yomiuri Nippon.  Downloads from HDtracks that seem reasonably priced for once.

I considered it too but ultimately decided against because I wished the box had more of the Kodaly, Bartok, Janacek, Martinu type stuff and less of the Beethoven, Brahms, Schumann, Mahler type stuff. Which, of course, is not the box's fault since it is a Complete Recordings.

Verdi Fans......Ciao, come stai?

Oh I am tempted.....anyone here familiar with this boxset?

  [asin]B07GVX9BPT[/asin]

I am tempted because it is all the operas,in Bluray (great picture and sound), the productions seem for the most part to be traditional with some elaborate staging (maybe not as elaborate as the MET or Covent Garden productions but from what I can tell it is not Regietheatre which I hate.  But how is the singing?, how is the action/acting overall?  Any advice? thoughts impression?

It seems I am converging on the same conclusion. The stuff that seems essential can be obtained more cheaply as individual releases.
