Thanks a lot, Olivier, very helpful. Combining this with the albums listed in discogs.com I hope to be able to assign each track to the corresponding CD (my download contains only the 91 tracks for 1 to 91 and the sleeve). Thank you again.

The composer Akira Ifukube has been mentioned in another thread. I consider a purchase of the Naxos disc of some of his ‘serious’ music:

... but also that of his film music. He is universally known and revered in Japan as the composer of music for various Godzilla films. Maybe I’ll try this one  ::)

What I've heard by Ifukube has been interesting. The Sinfonia Tapkaara is a good piece of music, maybe one of the best ones coming from Japan. Ifukube's works often have rhythmic vitality making them exciting and catchy.

It doesn't have any discs. It is 91 tracks, available as download only, I believe. It is a broad selection, rather heavy on Schumann.
It's all good...

As I have mentioned in other threads, I am in the processing of collecting all of the available recordings of the symphonies of Hovhaness.

The following is one that I am thinking of getting:

It contains a recording of the Symphony #15, "Silver Pilgrimage".

I already have the recording with the Louisville Symphony.  Even though this is an old recording it is still quite good.

Is anyone familiar with the Anthony Spain recording and is it worth getting?

Thank you. I downloaded it so there. I guess I'll split it the way I just see fit.  :D

The Amazon site did not list what works were on the recording.  Since many Koch recordings appear to be out of print, I had problems finding what works were on the CD.

The Alan Hohvaness website had a listing of all of the works on the CD.  The CD has two orchestral Hovhaness works that I was not familiar with: Vision From High Rock, Opus 195 and Mountain Of Prophecy, Opus 195.  So I want ahead and purchased the CD.
