. . . you find yourself considering listening to a composer of a sort, in whose music you normally would take no interest : )

You start a thread on "what the hell I will try this" so other people will do exactly the same as well.

You text a friend of yours saying "dammit a guy on GMG bought 5 Beethoven symphony cycles so he could have more than me!"

Just checked the CD-Rom. All it has is 2 PDF versions of the 96-page booklet (one high res at 43Mb, one low res at 4mb).

Picture of the boxset itself. I like the layout of it with the standalone receptacle like that.

Indeed, it's truly terrifying to even think of discovering new composers/works  :P

You know you've been at GMG too long when . . .your CD collection turns out to be bigger than Harrys.    :blank:

Well, that wasn't quite where that was going, Karlo . . . but well played!

I'm thinking more on the order of . . . Lucchesi (not the actual composer, BTW).

...when you have heard the sketches, original version, the revised version and the final version of a work before it's published or premiered, and you hope one day you can tell your grandchildren about the evolution of the now-standard repertoire Karl Henning's Viola Sonata.

"I'm sick to death of hearing that Henning on the radio.  I can't even buy an old fashioned CD without seeing his name splattered all over the place.  When I'm tuning through Hologram Radio, I even see old footage of Henning, all the time, once I even saw him standing in the Albert Hall with the Boston Symphony Orchestra...I think he was conducting Adams at the time though, because Hogan and the Philharmonia were touring Europe with Hennigworks.  I bought the USA Inquirer last week and guess who was on the front page?  I watched a remake of 2001: A Space Odyssey, and guess who worte the music for it?  I even went to get some respite from Vatican Live, beamed coverage into my Hologram stage in the middle of the room, hoping to recieve some peace from God and a realisation of my next move.  But guess what?  It was Vespers, and Hennings Vespers were being sung.  I'm going back to Beethoven!"      :P

Ever since they started using Henning in those jewelry commercials, I've been put right off.

Hmmmm. I would take this as a very positive thing, a reason to stick around the joint for awhile longer. I only WISH this happened more often.
