I had originally thought of it as a half-size violin, but then I thought to myself, "Maybe it's half a violin." Someone can play half a violin, can't they? It only has two strings. Easy.
I was thinking like 1st violin part, 2nd violin part, 1/2 violin part.
Beethoven's Op. 133 -- A fugue so bad that even Beethoven himself called it "Grosse".

Here's one that I've been listening to a lot. If Boulez put a white sheet over his head, he could be a ghost for Halloween.

I think it is because both of his hands are up at the same height.

Boulez conducts Petroushka!
...better than some people here are conducting themselves.....

That's actually better than the real Crumb covers. Much better.

+1.

Same CD, I have trouble deciding whether the front or back is worse:

My vote is for the back. How close to the wall are they?

Same CD, I have trouble deciding whether the front or back is worse:

Worse? My vote is for the front cover.  That's one of the most un-casual photos of two musicians I've ever seen. (Photographer: "OK, let's have you two looking as relaxed as possible, as if you're just having a conversation." Rattle: "I don't know if we can do that. We don't know each other that well." Brendel: "I've only met Mr. Rattle professionally. We've never met socially. Will that lack of natural rapport show up in the photograph?" Photographer: "Of course not, boys! You'll look like old friends. Trust me!")

As for the back cover, it looks as if the photo was taken at a completely different photoshoot, and that annoys me a little. (I like consistency in album artwork.) I'm only slightly bothered by the chaps being so close to the wall/backdrop. A part of me (i.e., the slightly bothered part) thinks the back cover photo makes it look like the two lads have been sent to the naughty corner, and were told to face the wall.

What I would have preferred for the front and back covers is clichéd, but... I'd keep the back cover as is, and for the front have the reverse – i.e., the guys sitting in their chairs, facing the camera.

I found this from (what I think is) the back cover photo session, and although they're not facing the camera I think it's much better than the current front cover:

Looks like they removed the big, giant cupid heart in the middle.

Awww.

(Confession: I hadn't thought of that. Now I'm picturing them leaning forward slowly and kissing. It's love!)

Speaking of photos featuring a soloist named Alfred and a conductor named Simon, I think this is ideal:

I don't like the tops of their heads being cut off, but I adore that photo. The composition! The musician placement (soloist in front)! The black-and-white-ness!

Another reason I adore that photo is that it reminds me of:

I'm sure the performances and recording are all splendid and worthy and marvellous etc., but my first thought was:

"Hey, leave that flower alone! What did that flower ever do to you?"

It got Royal Fireworksed?

Also, I just realized, isn't Music for the Royal Fireworks like 20 minutes long? What's the rest of the CD?

It got pestered. In a major way.

The rest of the album (you can hear it on Spotify) contains three concertos* a due cori (HWV332-334).

(*Or "concerti" if you want to get pedantic.)

That one looks very unpleasant. It's like someone had a bad case of stomach ache.

So spelling it "MUSICK" adds some sort of old-world feeling the performance? I hate gimmicks like that.
