Hello

I have been using this forum for nearly 15 years, only posting many years ago under a different account.

However I want to post here to say thank you to everyone for all your information, knowledge and enthusiasm over the years.

2 weeks ago I started my new job as Product Manager at Presto Classical, which I hope at least some of you are aware is an online classical music retailer :-).

I would not have been able to get this job without the knowledge you have shared on this board over the years, so can I take this opportunity to say THANK YOU!

Paul

I would say you're welcome, but I've already done so by spending a fortune at Presto!

Congratulations. I just hope you are not as good at extracting from my wallet as your predecessor was!

Presto is (as you presumably know) well thought of here.

I can't quite remember what my previous username was, I think it was paulthomas84, or paul_thomas84, something like that - it was a while ago!

As for perks etc. I will do my best, if I can get my hands on promotional items posters etc. I will gladly offer them around on this forum, it's the least I can do.

Also please let me know as a moderator if you feel I am overstepping any bounds with regards to promotion etc., I don't intend to use this forum as a marketing tool (that's not my job at Presto anyway!), but I will try and provide any information that might be useful as I find it out.

We are incredibly fortunate to get to hear stuff before it's released so I can give you advance notice of good stuff coming out.

Thanks

Paul

Great!  Can I offer a suggestion?  Is it possible PRESTO would be able to issue recordings of the works of Vyacheslav Ovchinnikov and Karl Henning?

The latter you are already acquainted with, the former is still alive (81 I believe) and is the composer of the great soundtrack to the epic 1960's version of War and Peace by Sergei Bondarchuk.  His concert works (4 symphonies plus smaller works) are all excellent.

That's great to hear, we do our best because everyone in the office is just as passionate about classical music as you are - they hired me after all :-)

In fact most of our editorial staff are musicians themselves, I am in a massive minority in the office not actually playing an instrument or singing.

Interestingly my position is a new one as the business is expanding, which is fantastic news for a number of reasons.

I can't make any guarantee's with that kind of thing i'm afraid, it all depends on a label to record his music, get on a distributor etc. etc.

Sadly at Presto we don't make 'em - we only sell 'em -with the exception of our 'Presto CDs' which are at the moment OOP Universal (DG, Decca, Philips etc.) titles

Thanks

Sadly no, I need you all to help pay my salary ;-)

What I will do though is try and get a hold any promotional material and offer it up on here, it's the least I can do!

(poco) Sforzando

Sorry if I have not yet purchased anything from Presto. Allegro non troppo is more my speed.

Okay, we understand: for Ovchinnikov, many of his works were recorded by Melodiya, but are not available on CD.  A suggestion to management? 0:)

If I get a chance I will mention it, and will let you know if I see any reissues from Melodiya of his compositions.

I may get to work with someone from Melodiya later down the line, but I have only been at Presto for 2 weeks so haven't managed to make any connections - yet :-)
